529 Words
The train was on its way to Tatanagar. My heart was pumping faster than its speed. The train stops on a station. I was sitting freely looking through the window and suddenly an appetizing smell enters my nostrils. I tried to peep out but the smell was gone but my eyes pause on a little creature, an squirrel. It was trying to crawl up on one of the pole. "Go little one go ..." " Haha... Peku... " 10 YEARS BACK I was very interested in knowing about the landlady. I usually asked my granny about her. She told the lady lives here alone and eventually meets someone. I found her as a diligent lady. Her story was same as of my mother. Both of their husbands left them alone with their child and both are sweet and courteous. One day on my way back to home I came across a little squirrel laying on the path. It was injured and was unable to move. I picked it up. I wanted to help the tiny creature but I couldn't take it home as no one could bear a animal in house. I decided to leave the creature there but suddenly an idea strike in my mind... "The landlady can help me. She is very fond of nature and animals. She usually feed my creatures in morning.I should go there at least I can try" I unlock the door and enter the house's garden. She was there watering the plants. "Oh son....how are you? " "I am good! " "So you want more plums?...wait I gave a big bunch" "No No I am not here for the fruit..." I show her the injured tiny creature. "Oh my Lord... " Her face turned sorrowful. She took the squirrel in her hand take her inside the house. I was curious to know what was she trying to do but I didn't want to enter a stranger's house. After 5 to 7 min she came back with the tiny being. I was in shock that the creature who was unable to move, was running and dancing on her body. The squirrel bounced on my shoulder and started playing with hairs. A huge smile covered my face. "You can visit the tiny one whenever you want" I started looking up the creature daily. It was surprising that the creature who gets afraid of anyone's movement was not living the landlady's house. Maybe it was afraid of being hunted by hawks or owls. We feed it mushrooms and plum and started calling it Peku. PRESENT TIME Horn blows... Train started moving. I show the little creature had successfully climbed the pole and was masticating something. "What should happen to Peku.. it was little creature and can't live long... it must had died years ago.. poor one!... " My eyes was full of tears remembering the tiny creature. Train started to leave. I looked back to the little one and surprisingly it was staring at me as was trying to say a goodbye. I was happy for the squirrel. "Goodbye Peku...! " "We will met someday again!...at granny's house.... see you there... " TO BE CONTINUED
