18th Birthday

It was Friday morning & i had just gotten out of bed to drag myself to the bathroom to slowly get ready for school like always.

I was washing my hair in the shower while i had music playing in the background.

Today was different from any other day cause today was finally my 18th Birthday.

The big day had finally arrived so today i had a lot more energy than i normally do in the mornings.

After my shower i went to my room & got dressed,i picked out my favorite anime shirt,my black pants with red lace down the sides & my favorite pair of black lolita boots.

After getting dressed & doing my make-up i quickly ran downstairs to the kitchen to make myself some coffee & to eat the breakfast my mom made me.

Since it was my birthday she made me my favorite,chocolate chip waffles with bacon.

My mom grabbed her coffee & sat down beside me at the table.

She also grabbed a medium sized present off the counter too.

She sat down beside me & handed me the present.

"Happy Birthday Lexy"she said.

"Thanks Mom" I said as i grabbed the present & gave her a hug.

As i was about to open the present, my dad walked in from the living room.

"Happy Birthday Lexy"he said as he grabbed his plate & sat beside my mom at the table.

"Thanks Dad" I said as i went back to opening my gift.

As i ripped half of the wrapping paper off i quickly looked at my mom & dad before tearing the rest of the paper off.

It was the one thing i had always wanted,my very own book of shadows.

"Omg, thank y'all"i said as i got up & gave them both a hug.

"Your welcome Lexy"my mom said.

"You have one more gift left but you won't get it till after you get home later,ok Lexy"my dad said as he got up & grabbed his coat.

"Shoot,i almost forgot"i said as i looked at the clock.

"I better get going if i dont want to be late" I said as i grabbed my twitch jacket & my backpack.

My birthday was going good so far & i was in to much of a good mood to let anything ruin it.

I blasted my radio when i got in my car & started singing along with my favorite songs as i drove to school.

The school was only fifteen minutes from my house so i didnt have that long of a drive.

"Jordan Vocational High School"read the sign in front of the school.

I pulled into the student parking lot,turned my car off & quickly grabbed my things to take to my locker.

Once i got inside i started walking to my locker where my friends were waiting for me with some of them holding what had appeared to be presents they got me for my birthday.

"Happy Birthday Lexy"said Raylin as she handed me a small shaped box with black lace ribbon wrapped around it.

I opened the present & it was a red crescent moon necklace with a sapphire gem.

I smiled as i looked at her.

"Its beautiful Raylin" It said as i grabbed it out the box to put it on.

"I saw it at the mall the other day & knew you would love it"she said with a big smile.

"Happy Birthday Lexy,here's my gift next"said Astaroth as he handed me his gift.

I opened his gift & it was some anime figures from some of my favorite animes.

"Omg these are so wicked Astaroth",i said as i put them on the top self of my locker.

"where did you get these from" I asked him cause three of the figurines were rare to find.

"Remember when you came with my family to japan two summers ago"he asked me as i grabbed my stuff for first through third period.

"Yeah I remember,my parents let me go cause i wanted to study japans culture" I said as i closed my locker.

" Yeah,well I found a picture that we took inside one of the anime shops & saw these in the background of one so i went to there website & here they are"Astaroth said as we entered our classroom & sat in our seats waiting for the teacher to start class.

He was always there making sure i was happy,he was the best cousin i could ask for even though we arent blood related after all.

I didnt know i was adopted until i was fifteen,my parents told me cause i was at the age they felt i could handle that kind of news.

I didnt care if i was adopted cause that meant i was able to get some family that cared about me & loved me for who i really am.

"Ok class quiet down",said Mr.Blackstone as he entered into the room shortly after Astaroth & I came in & sat down.

"Ok class,did everyone finish their reports on viking mythology",Mr.Blackstone asked the class as he pulled out a stack of papers out of his bag.

"Yes",said the class in unison.

"ok then,I want one at a time to bring them to my desk starting with the first row"said Mr.Blackstone.

After that Mr.Blackstone stood up & started drawing symbols then writing some names on the whiteboard at the front of the classroom.

"Ok class,who can tell me what these symbols represent"he asked the class.

"Those symbols each represent a different deity or god/goddess in viking mythology"I said in an instant being how I constantly learn about the different deity's my coven follows so I know a pretty good amount especially about the viking deity's.

"Very good Lexy,I expected nothing less from the leaders daughter"Mr.Blackstone said with a smile.

Mr.Blackstone was the Scribe of the clan,he was in charge of writing down all the main events & meetings of the clan so that the next generation knew what all the clan has done.

Class felt like it was going on forever but luckily the bell rung & everyone headed towards their second period class except for me,Mr.Blackstone kept me back for a couple of minutes.

"Here Lexy",he said as he handed me a small gift.

I opened the gift & it was the covens symbol of a black dragon but there was another symbol that I didn't recognize at all.

"What's symbol is this",I asked pointing to the symbol of some weird sword with blood dripping from it.

"I can't tell you,your parents & I will tell you what that symbol means & everything having to do with it tonight",he said as he stood up to let his next class in.

"ok,see you later Mr.Blackstone",I said as I grabbed the stuff from my desk & headed towards Mrs.Rhan's science class who was another member of the coven who's family along with mine helped form the coven,her role is the tarot reader who the coven members go to when they need guidance on personal stuff.

Her class is always a little bit boring but I had Lazarus in my class & he also sits beside me,we have known each other since we was kids & now we are dating for about three years now.

I entered Mrs.Rhan's class & sat down beside Lazarus who had a medium size box in front of him.

"Is that for me",I asked as I put my stuff on my desk.

"Yes it is",he said handing it to me & I immediately open it & it was beautiful.

"Awww thanks babe,it's beautiful",I said as I pulled out a ring that had two gemstones on it which was two sapphire stones which is mine & his birthstone.

"Your welcome baby,your mother helped me with stones & my dad made the rest of it",he said as Mrs.Rhan started going over everything we have been learning the past couple of days which was space & the planets.

Lazarus family helps make all the stuff we need for rituals & has a little shop in town that sells random odds & ends that the other covens around us use.

"Can anyone tell me two properties about the moon & Mercury that we use in astrology",she asked as see scanned the room seeing who knew the answer.

"Two properties of the moon used in astrology are desires & personality & Mercury's are learning & sensory",said Lazarus as he raised his right hand.

"Very good Lazarus,Lexy must be rubbing off on your",she said with a little laugh.

Lazarus lowered his head some to hid his embarrassment.

"dont be embarrassed Lazarus,wanting to be better is nothing to be ashamed of" I said with a smile on my face while the teacher continued to talk about the planet's & each of the benefits they give in spellcasting & astrology.

After Mrs.Rhans class Lazarus headed to p.e while I headed to art class,Raylin had this class with me & I love it cause we've been the ones the coven leaders would ask to draw stuff for rituals,celebrations & stuff like that.

"Raylin I wonder what we will be drawing today,I'm hoping its something to do with vampires"i said jokingly.

"You never know what the universe has in store for you today,it is your birthday today after all"She said as we made it to Mrs.Selene's class room which seemed to be decorated differently then it normally is.

"Hello Raylin & Hello Lexy,come have a seat so I can get started with today's lesson"she said as we took our seats.

"Well today class before we get started with today's lesson its someone's special day today,why dont we all wish lexy a happy magical birthday today"Mrs.Selene said as the whole class stood up to sing me happy birthday in unison.

After everyone finished singing to me Mrs.Selene handed me a small gift,I opened it to find it was me at my ascension ceremony five years ago,I was the 2nd youngest witch to ascend to the role of Priestess who are the understudy of the high priestess basically,that day was very special for me cause that's also the night Lazarus confessed his love for me & I to him.

"Its beautiful Mrs.Selene"i said as I carefully put it in my desk.

"Well I'm glad you enjoyed it lexy"she said with a big smile on her face.

"Ok class now lets settle down cause today's lesson is a special one,today we will be drawing & studying vampires today"as she said that my eyes just lit up with excitement,I've been obsessed with vampires ever since I can remember,they are my favorite creatures of the night & sometimes i wish I was friends with one.

"Ok class who can tell me who the most famous vampire in history is"she asked as I quickly raised my hand before she could finish.

"Ok Lexy,who is it"she asked "its Dracula or Vlad the impaler as he is also known by" I said.

"Very good lexy" she said as she wrote it down on the smart board,everytime she asked a question I was right there with the answer.

"ok class now here's the fun part,I want you to draw what you think you would look like as a vampire & for this time only you can add some gore to it if you want to just no nudity"she said staring at some of the boys in the classroom,this is the most fun assignment yet in art class.

After an hour had past Mrs.Selene told us it's time to stop & to slowly get ready to leave cause the bell was fixing to ring,she told us to sign our names on our work & leave them on our desk so she can grade them.

"ok class remember we have the annual festival coming up & I want you to think of what you want to submit to the Halloween contest this year,the theme is the triple goddess"she said as the bell rang for lunch time.

Today has been a awesome day so far & I was so happy with the gifts I've received so far from everyone,I'm still curious about the other gift Mr.Blackstone has for me.

After lunch the rest of the classes were a bit boring but luckily time flew by quickly & it was time for school to let out for the weekend & so I went to my locker to put my books away & grab all my gifts from everyone & headed to my car.

"So have anything planned for the rest of the day" Lazarus asked.

"Well my parents & Mr.Blackstone have something they want to talk to me about over dinner tonight but I'm free for three hours" I said as I climbed into my car while he walked to his truck,he texted me to follow him so I did & stopped at this beautiful restaurant.

"Omg Lazarus this place looks beautiful & expensive" I said as I climbed out of my car & gave him a big hug & a kiss.

"Dont worry about how much it cost,the shop has been doing really well lately so I wanted to spoil my love some" he said with a smile then kissed me on the forehead.

"Awww thanks babe,I love you so much" I said as I walked into the restaurant holding his hand as we made our way to our seats,everything on the menu sounded so good but I chose to get the crab legs with a baked potato,some sushi & a sweet tea while he chose the steak with steamed garlic broccoli.

We sat & chatted for at least an hour,whatever we had left went into a to-go box for me to enjoy later,after we left the restaurant we went to the mall to get some stuff at the local goth store then we went our separate ways.

This day just kept getting better until on my drive home something weird was happening to my right arm,some sort of symbol was appearing & I had no idea what it means so I figured I would ask my parents but as I drove into the driveway I saw Lazarus in the living room window along with my parents & Mr.Blackstone.

I grabbed my purse & headed inside towards the livingroom where everyone seemed to be waiting on me,then I saw my moms eyes gaze towards my right arm & Mr.Blackstone's soon followed.

"Oh this" I said holding up my right arm "I have no idea what this is,it started appearing as I was driving home" I said pointing at the symbol that had now fully formed.

"Sweetie we need to sit down & talk,we have something to tell you" my mom said as everyone sat down,I sat next to Lazarus cause I was still a little confused as to what in hades was going on.

"lexy we have something we want to tell you & part of it has to do with that mark on your arm"my mom said pointing towards my right arm.

"that mark on your arm is the mark of a royal vampire family that use to live around here long ago,you are their direct descendent"Mr.Blackstone said pulling out a necklace with the same symbol on it that was on my arm.

"Royal Vampires?"I asked cause all this just didn't seem right,it just didnt make sense.

"yes,this necklace is to be given to a descendent if one should arise on their 18th birthday"Blackstone said then he lifted his sleeve on his right arm to reveal the same symbol on his arm too.

"wait,you have the symbol too Mr.Blackstone?"I asked cause again this just all seems crazy.

"yes I have the symbol too & so does lazarus"he said pointing at lazarus.

"he does"I said even more confused.

As I looked over at lazarus he unbuttoned his shirt some to reveal the symbol on his chest.

"I got it last year on my 18th birthday just like you got yours today & just like you baby I was confused but Mr.Blackstone explained everything"lazarus said as he buttoned his shirt back up.

"wait so if you got it then dont that mean we're related or something?"I asked cause I'm hoping that we aren't related cause I love him with all my heart.

"No we aren't related,I'm from a different clan then you so you dont gotta worry baby"lazarus said as he grabbed my hand,I felt so relieved to hear that cause I didnt wanna lose the one person that loved me for who I am & not who my parents are.

"so are part of the same clan as lazarus?"I asked Mr.Blackstone cause my curiosity was getting peaked now.

"yes,I'm apart of the same clan he is,I'm here to help y'all & guide y'all cause one day y'all will rule & join the two clans together"he said as he handed the necklace to lazarus to put on me.

"wait,who else knows about all this & will we still be going to school?"I asked cause I don't wanna leave my friends & I atleast wanna finish school & graduate.

"you both will stay in school until y'all graduate,that one major thing your parents wanted before they..."Blackstone stopped talking for a second then continued,"Before your parents passed & put me in charge of y'all with the help of this coven,which speaking of the coven"he stopped again but this time he looked at my mom to see if she wanted to say anything.

"The only people that know is the elders & their family & of course lazarus family & thats it,no one else in the coven knows"my mom said holding my dad's hand.

"wait,so does that mean Astaroth knows too"I asked cause Astaroth was my best friend growing up & the best cousin I could ask for.

"yes he does,he's been the elders eyes & ears when it came to keeping an eye on you two to make sure your vampiric side didn't surface early"my mom said.

"you mean the urge to drink blood"I said cause I can tell my mom wasn't comfortable saying it.

"yes that's what she means"Mr.Blackstone said as he was grabbing some sort of water bottle out of his bag & handed it to lazarus.

"Is that what I think it is"I said pointing to the water bottle.

"yes it's blood"Blackstone said without hesitation.

"when will I have to.....drink blood"I asked with hesitation.

"he is drinking animal blood just until y'all graduate"Blackstone said,I let a sigh of relief cause that meant I had three months to prepare myself for my new life as a vampire & luckily Mr.Blackstone said that thanks to my witch side I can still do all the things a normal human does during the day.

"what about eating regular food"I asked cause there are some foods I would hate to have to give up.

"you can still eat regular food,you just wouldn't eat as much as you normally would"he said & again I let out another sigh of relief cause if I had to give up sushi then someone was gonna pay dearly.

"don't worry I was thinking the same thing"lazarus said grabbing my hand & pulling me closer to him to comfort me cause I'm all confused still about everything.

"don't worry I'll slowly explain everything to both of you in due time so for now just enjoy the rest of your school year & dont forget we got prom next week"Mr.Blackstone said

"oh s**t I totally forgot"I said turning to look at lazarus to see if he forgot too.

"don't worry baby I got my suit & your dress picked out,I'll bring it over tomorrow for you to try the dress on to make sure there isnt any adjustments that need to be made"lazarus said with a smile as he pulled my hand to his face & kissed it.

"ok babe,I can't wait to see it"I said with excitement as I tried to restrain myself from kissing him & I could see that he knew cause he pulled me close & whispered in my ear "don't worry baby,you can kiss me all you want when I bring the dress over"he said with a wink.

"ok I think that's enough for now"my dad said as he stood up.

"I agree Rex,we dont wanna overwhelm her"Blackstone said as everyone got up to walk him & lazarus to the front door cause it was getting late.

"ok night babe love you"I said as I gave lazarus a hug & a kiss on the cheek.

After they left my parents went to their room & I went to mine to try to get some sleep but luckily I had my playlist I listen to all ready to go so I pressed play & eventually drifted off to sleep.
