Ethan was nowhere in sight at this point, and without wasting any more time, she walked out of the balcony and chased after him. "Stop!" She grabbed his palm, but then she was pushed so hard that she landed on the couch nearby.
"That's a woman you are rough handling, Ethan." A lady appeared, rushing to save Emily.
"Stay away from this, Bella. It's none of your business." He attacked, and she froze.
She had known her cousin to have an attitude, but she had never seen him this frustrated.
Bella turned to stare at Emily and saw how fragile and worried she looked. She didn't know when confusion slipped in. She had always loved her brother, but this woman right here was giving her a really positive vibe. So much that she could already envision her as a sister in-law. "She is crying. Ethan, you have always protected women."
"No woman has ever come here pressing themselves on me and claiming to be my mate." He responded, and her eyes widened in shock.
Mate?
She looked between the two of them and was speechless as hell. "Emily, are you okay?" Sia's voice was heard. They turned and saw her rushing towards them. The moment she got to Emily, she shielded her, feeling worried for her. "What happened? Hope you're alright."
"If you love her so much, please make sure she doesn't appear here anymore. I really can not tolerate a pathetic soul like her." She swore and rushed towards her and grabbed her out of Sia's palm to himself. It was the first time he was holding her so close aside from the night of the one-night stand.
Emily was losing her strength, so she grabbed his neck with her soft palm as she tried to stay standing. Suddenly, the thrill from that night came again, and it felt like they were in the middle of a flame. The mate bond was glaring this time, and Bella and Sia staggered backwards in shock. "They are mate!" Bella muttered in excitement.
Ethan tried to suppress the urge. "Where are your family at?" He finally got to know her.
"I don't know about family. My only family is Sia." She replied to him.
"And your wolf?" He asked again.
"I'm still trying to learn about it and figure it out..."
"Could you be any more pathetic. Gosh, I feel sick of your existence. I guess I should have killed you that night. I wouldn't have to be going through this. I hate you! Get out!" He spat, pushing her away again.
She staggered about to fall, but Bella and Sia grabbed her tightly.
"I have been doing everything I can to talk to you because I felt like the bond we shared at night was special, but now I see that you are nothing but a manipulator. I will leave, but first, you have to give me a good reason to leave. I need a good reason to never reach out to you again."
"I despise you! Is that a good enough reason?" He replied to her, and that broke her heart.
"What about the mating bond?" She asked almost in a whisper
"I reject you, Emily!" He rejected her, and she fell to the floor, holding her heart in pain as she tried to survive it.
This was her first ever rejection, and she had no idea it hurt that much. "I accept your rejection." She finally said.
Sia froze
That wasn't something she had expected from Emily, seeing how much she liked the Alpha
"Can I have my peace now that it's settled?" He said with a smirk.
With tears in her eyes, she stood up from the floor. The realization hit her back with full force.
The alpha doesn't want her. She guessed she didn't need anyone to remind her about it anymore, so she took a deep breath and walked away.
Sia followed behind her worriedly.
"Cousin, this is not a good thing. How could you treat such a pretty lady like that? It's unfair, please. What did she do to deserve it? She only loves you. Nothing cruel." Bella was about to lose it on Ethan.
Ethan wasn't ready to listen to her, so he got up, stormed out of his office, and made his way to his room. The moment he got in, he shut the door and went to sit on his bed.
Memories of Emily's visit flooded his mind, and he didn't know what to do anymore.
He later walked into his bathroom intending to wash out every drama that he had dealt with that morning.
"I can't believe he rejected me. My heart still hurts." Emily spat on the floor, pained and weak. "I loved him, honestly. I wanted to be there for him. I don't care about his status, but here I am. He hates me." She cried, but Sia had no idea what she should do about this.
"I knew it was a bad idea to go to him, but you should fall because of it. You aren't pathetic like he said. You are the most beautiful girl in this part of the pack. Can't you see how other girls envy you?" She said and brought her closer to her chest, hugging her hair. "I will always be here for you, my dear." She promised and kissed her forehead.
Emily cried her eyes out and only went silent when sleep enveloped her.
She woke up the next morning weak as hell. She rolled and tried to get up when a hand pulled her back to bed. "Good morning." She muttered, and Sia smiled.
"Good morning, honey. I made you this lemon water. Please drink it. It will help you." She said feeding her the water.
Emily drank it and stayed on the bed for a few minutes before feeling like she could get up.
When she finally did, she rushed into the bathroom to clean up, and the moment she sat down to eat breakfast with Sia, there was a knock on the door.
