“s**t, I need to shake this off before I do something stupid,” I said under my breath, still feeling the heat from Alex’s stare on my skin as I stepped into the thickening morning crowds.
The fair was waking up fast, music drifting from somewhere ahead, mixed with the sweet greasy smell of pastries and strong coffee.
