"Tina".Mrs Waters called in a firm voice."Do you or do you not remember what I told you about forgiveness few weeks ago?". "Yes". Tina answered in a crisp voice. "Do not answer me with such crispness in your voice."Mrs Waters said."Do you not know that the divorce affected me??I refused to let it weigh me down. You have to do that too, forgive him,do you understand me?"She concluded with a note of finality in her voice. "Don't argue.Go upstairs and comb your hair.Your Dad is here already".Mrs Waters said walking in the direction of the living room. "The shuffling of feet could be heard across the homeroom as the students of Willies High hurried to their seats. The principal Mrs Coleman had earlier announced that there was going to be a brief meeting after school for the students. "Good afternoon Willies High school". Mrs Coleman greeted everybody in the room as she took her position behind the mic. "As you all know", she continued. "The SATs exam is fast approaching and thatis why I called this little meeting. I have met with all the teachers and we have come to a conclusion that I will tell you very soon". Mrs Coleman cleared her throat and continued. "The. last test grades of most of you are very. depressing. Willies high has won awards for four consecutive years for producing most of the students with the best SATs results in the whole of North Carolina. "We want to keep up with that record which is why we have decided that SATs tutoring sessions should begin next week. They will be held on Tuesday and thurdays for an hour and thirty minutes after school. They would be held by other students whom we consider as our star students. We decided to do this so that the environment would be less formal and you. can mix fun with learning. Be sure to sign up before lunch break tomorrow". Mrs Coleman concluded amidst tremendous applause. "And now, I have one final and very exciting bit of news!" Mrs Coleman said with an excitement laden voice. "The student council has decided that this years prom should be epic. So, this years prom is going to be done in the Sadie Hawkins style, and I think its one. that every student will enjoy, the girls get to ask the boys to prom". Mrs Coleman concluded. That woke everyone up. An excited buzz broke out in the homeroom. "This is awesome", someone in the crowd shouted. Jules walked out of the school building with an armload of SATs practice tests. Just one week of tutoring. She thought to. herself and she was losing it already. She. was still deliberating on how she will make. Her students understand what she'll teach in the next tutoring session when she heard. someone call her from behind. She looked back and saw it was Ronald and he was hurrying his steps to match her strides so she decided to slowdown a bit. "Hey, wait up" Ronald called. Jules decided to stop walking when she realized that he really wanted to talk. To her.She wondered what he wanted to say to her because apart from. when he visited the Waters with his family, she. had never spoken to him. "Hey again". Ronald said. as he got to where Jules was Standing."Remember me?". "Yeah I do Ronald Waters". Jules replied. "And you are Jules Cancaster".Ronald said. "Yes I am" "The. French teacher asked me to wait behind for some extra coaching and I just happened to see you ahead when I walked out of the school building". "Okay".Jules said wondering within herself why he was telling her. "Mind if I tag along?".Ronald asked. "Not at all". After about five minutes of uncomfortable silence,Jules decided to say something to lighten the atmosphere. "So........,how would you rate your previous school when compared to Willies high?".Jules asked. "It was way livelier than willies high, there was always one fun activity to do everyday". "Well, that's Newyork city and this is Tamledge.Besides, there is always a fun activity to do here almost everyday". "Yeah,I noticed",Ron replied in a voice filled with sacarsm. "I'm serious".Jules replied in mock anger. When they got to the street that led to Ron's house,he paused and asked. "Am I welcome to sit at your table during lunch tomorrow?" Jules replied with a throaty laugh and wished within herself that it was Gus that was asking her this. "What's so funny?".Ron asked with a confused smile. "Tomorrow is Saturday". "Oh.....that",Ron replied and continued on a second thought."Why don't we both hangout together tomorrow and get to know each other better". "I'm sorry, maybe some other time".Jules declined."We have a council meeting tomorrow". "All day??".Ron countered with raised eyebrows. "No,but I am going out with a couple friends after that". "Okay.Maybe some other other time". "Yeah". "See you around".Ron called at her retreating back.
