prologue

The alarm clock on the bedside table chimed 7:30am as Jules rolled in bed and used two pillows to block out the sound.

"Jules!Jules!"Mrs Cancaster called as she knocked on her bedroom door."Get dressed and come down quickly I need you to help me deliver something".

"ok mum".Jules slowly stood up from the bed,got into the shower and was down in twenty minutes.

"Jules"mum said,"I want you to take this jar of cookies to Mrs Waters.she moved in yesterday with her kids and this is our welcome gift to her".

"is she the one you told me about last week?The one is an old school friend?"

"Yes".

"okay".Jules picked up the cookie jar and quickly went out to deliver it.It was the last day of school before the Easter holidays and she had promised Katie her bestfriend to pick her up so they could go to the beauty salon together.

She climbed up the few steps in front of the Waters house and knocked softly on the door.

"who's there?".Someone called from wthin.

"A neighbour"Jules aswered.Someone opened the door and Jules suddenly found it hard to breathe,she was completely dumbstruck by the boy standing in front of her.

" "come in".the boy said.*

Jules felt stupid.She had completely forgotten herself even though she knew it was impolite to stare.But then,this guy is so cute she thought to herself.He had a cute dimple that showed when he talked on the left side of his cheek,his skin was caramel colored,he had a chiseled face,slit-like eyes and a very cute mouth.He looked five foot ten and was the exact definition of handsome,he also had a body he obviously worked out for.

Jules suddenly regained her composure and realized she was still staring with her mouth slightly open.He was staring right back with a smug smile on his face,one that told her he was used to such stares.

"Hello,I'm Jules Cancaster.I live in the grey building beside yours and my mum sent me to give this to your mum,they are friends from way back".

"I am Augustus Waters but you can call me Gus.Do come in".He said for the second time.

"Gus who was that and what took you so long?"A feminine said just as Gus opened the door to the living room.

"Augustina meet Jules and Jules Augustina,she is my twin and she's older than me wirh a minute .Have a seat while i'll go get mum.

"Hello"Jules said to Augustina as she sat down.

"Hiya,are you the one mum told us about?"

"Well..................I don't know".

Just then,Gus came back with a stunning woman in tow.

"Good morning"Jules greeted the woman.

"Hello".she replied."You look exactly like your mum"she said as she collected the jar of cookies "tell her I will come see her later in the day".

"okay".Jules said as she stood and made for the door but Gus was there before her and he opened it for her."Thank you" she said and stepped outside.

"Mum!mum!".Jules shouted when she entered the house."You did not tell me she had a son about my age".

"Well........I didn't know,she told me she had a set of twins your age and an eleven years old son.her mum said."Jules really want to talk to you about something;sit and have the conversation over breakfast".

Whenever mum talked like this it was always really serious.Jules thought to herself.

As her mum was serving breakfast she said"Jules,you remember the trip your father and I were supposed to take last year?"

"Yeah" she answered. this was getting serious. she thought again.

"I am really sorry but we have to take it this year,,,it is important for your father's business and have to go with him"

"But mum,I am in my final year at Willies high.can't you postpone the trip till next year when I would have gone to college?"

"No my dear your..................."

"But mum I..............."

"Listen to me Jules,your father would be out of business if we don't go this year and there would be no money for college".

"But mum,I really want to be prom queen that's why I have to stay at willies high where everybody knows and can vote for me,Mum it has been my dream since 9th grade and cannot actualize it if I move to another school where nobody knows me"

"I didn't say anything about you moving.I've talked about it with your dad and he agreed that you can stay with the Waters throughout your final year".

"Mum !!!!! I can't........I already embarrassed myself in front of Gus by gawking stupidly at him,I just can't."

"Think about it dearie,it would be fun living with the waters and since you people will be going to the same school it would even be more fun".

"Mum,can't I stay with Katie?,She is my bestfriend".

"No,Katie's parents are never around,remember she is the one always sleeping over at our place".

"okay mum,l'll think about it".

"So let's eat,say the grace".
