'Who is he?' Chiara thought, still in a daze, forgetting what brought her there for a moment.
It took her ten seconds to recover from her daze and she coughed in embarrassment, her ear turning red.
She gave the man the piece of paper and said
"Can you help me deliver this to Leonardo"
The man collected the paper and without waiting for a reply, she hopped onto her power bike and sped off without spearing him another glance.
The man gestures to the driver, and he zooms off, leaving the guards in a state of confusion. In the car, the man opened the paper and saw the fine handwriting which said:
"Leonardo, I don't know you, or what your motive is; I just want you to know that I am not interested in this marriage and never will be, and I hope you will cancel the marriage alliance. "
The man smirked and tore the paper, the car stopped at the entrance of the mansion. He got down and went into the mansion leaving the guards to do their job.
Inside the mansion, he saw Christina, his female cousin, sitting on the couch, typing on a laptop.
"Coming back home by this time is unlike you, Leonardo, what is the issue?" Christina asked not looking up.
Leonardo was lost in thought thinking about the lady who gave him the letter and how fearless she looked.
He imagined what her reaction would be if she found out that the person she was looking for and who she gave the letter was him.
Seeing him not replying, Christina looked up; her eyes were grey in color, with her thin and small lips added to her beauty.
She looked at Leonardo and wondered what could make him have that kind of expression.
"I'm talking to you, Leonardo," Christina said, and Leonardo snapped out of his thoughts.
"Nothing much. I came home to see who my bride was but found out she's left," Leonardo replied, sitting on the sofa next to Christina.
Christina is his favorite cousin who rarely comes to the mansion and when she comes, it means that she has a special mission.
Christina looked at him amused. "But I haven't heard the guards announcing anyone, and how did you know she has come? If I remember clearly, you are not interested in this marriage.'
"It doesn't matter what the old man wants to do; I don't have time," Leonardo replied, frowning his face.
He stood up, not wanting to say more, and left and Christina did not bother him either and continued what she was doing.
Later on the day, at the Salvatore mansion, the family surrounded the table, and they were having dinner. Micheal, the family patriarch, broke the silence
" Have you seen the bride I picked for you?" he asked looking at Leonardo with an indescribable expression.
"No" Leonardo denied, getting bored with the question.
"But I clearly asked you to come home to meet her, why didn't you listen to me?" Micheal said getting angry."
"If you needed a wife that bad, just get married to her and stop putting pressure on me," Leonardo replied, getting impatient as well.
His father has always been controlling 60% of his life, always making decisions for him, and he is fed up.
The dining hall became silent as everyone looked from Leonardo to Micheal.
"I don't know what is going on in that head of yours, but you have no right to disrespect me, and either you take it, or you leave it; you are getting married to that girl, and that is final."
Micheal said, his voice getting louder and his vein-popping up on his forehead.
Leonardo dropped his cutlery and stood up clearly pissed off.
No one said anything; the family is Veronica, his stepmother; Gabriel, the elder brother of Leonardo, Maria, Gabriel's wife; Christina; and Marco, Leonardo's cousin.
Micheal also stood up and left losing his appetite. With these, each and every one of them stood up, leaving the dining room except Christina, who acted like nothing happened.
At Antonio's mansion, everywhere was quiet, with Chiara playing with her food, not having the appetite to eat.
"Did you meet Leonardo?" Antonio asked breaking the silence.
They were at the dining table, and it was clear that Chiara hadn't touched her food, but Antonio chose to ignore her.
"Yes," Chiara replied, avoiding trouble because she knew if she denied, it would lead to an argument, and she was not interested in that because she had lots of things to do.
Antonio carried a glass of orange juice on the table and drank it feeling pleased.
Chiara smiled knowingly because she had drugged the juice to execute her mission tonight.
"How did the meeting go?" Antonio asked again, making her pause her thoughts.
"He is also not interested in it, but he had no choice" she replied, lying with a straight face.
"Hmm, you don't have to worry; you will fall in love with each other as time goes on," Antonio said.
The drug has started taking effect and he yawned sleepily. He stood up but could barely walk and slumped on the couch, sleeping off.
Chiara smiled and checked him out. She went to his room and started rummaging everywhere without scattering anything.
After searching tirelessly, she couldn't find what she was looking for. Feeling frustrated, she took a step back and rested on a wall beside the wardrobe when something picked her from behind.
She turned and saw a button that was the color of the wall. It was small and not noticeable. With curiosity, she pressed it and the wardrobe opened like a door.
Inside the room, is a safe where Antonio keeps his money. She beamed with joy as she brought out a laptop she brought with her and hacked into the safe. She was able to open it. The safe is big and occupies the room.
She packed as much money as she wanted, and it was still like nobody touched it.
After seeing that the money for the surgery was completed, she took some extra money and locked the safe before returning to her room like nothing happened.
That
night, she slept with a smile on her face, feeling like she had accomplished a great mission.
