Elara's POV
I pulled it out and flipped it over.
It was a small piece of white paper, folded up tight. I opened it. The words were printed in neat, black letters:
"I know about your past. I'm watching you."
My fingers completely froze.
My heart started pounding so hard I could hear it ringing in my ears.
I jerked my head up and quickly scanned the hallway—but everyone was just minding their own business.
No one was looking at me. A girl on my left was touching up her lipstick. A guy on my right was joking around with his friends. Further down, people were running and shouting at each other.
Everything was completely normal.
I looked back down at the note, my fingers shaking.
Was fate seriously playing this cruel of a sick joke on me?
