The Genesis Tournament

Chapter 2: The First Task

As soon as the wooden door opened, every participant went in. What welcomed them was a man who was smoking and waiting for the participants on a brown horse. "Alright, follow me." He said. He was the only one on a horse and there aren't any other horses on sight. Meaning they have to walk. "We're heading south, To Shu Pan." He said. He threw away the cigarette when suddenly Jake spoke. "Wait, isn't Shu Pan 500km away?" The tasker, Levi replied to Jake "Who told you you could speak?" Levi said to Jake. The other participants chuckled.  Jake cursed under his breath and soon later they left. They walked and later Jake noticed something. "This isn't the way to Shu Pan." He whispered among his friends, Alex and Jean. Alex realized this as well. " You're right, we should leave. Right ahead there's a fork. The Levi bastard is ushering us all to the other path." Alex said. "Jake, your family is from Shu Pan. Which is the right path?" Jean asked Jake. They were getting closer to the fork. They looked around to see if the tasker or anyone heard them. There were no sign of eavesdroppers. " The left goes to Shu Pan and the right, Avelyn Hills." Without the tasker noticing, The three went to the left so did the others. The overall participants from the starting ceremony was 1,200 and was reduced. The participants who went the other way are only 300 including Alex, Jean and Jake. They carried on with the other men.

Some time Later. 4 miles before the entrance of Shu Pan, all the participant can't believe their eyes. What Lies before them is "A wall?" Jake said. It seemed newly constructed, made out of cement. The participants sighed in disappointment "Great. We went here all for nothin'?" A man said." Yeah! It was those guys' fault!" Another man shouted. " We went to this path because we decided to. It should be your fault for following us, we didn't want you to follow us in the first place." Jake said. The same man was about shout back then Jean said "If you want to leave, leave. None of us is the king yet so none of us can decide what's best for you." The man glared at Jean and he spoke " Fine, To those who wants to leave and catch up to the others, come with me and to the fools who will stay, stay." Some of the participants raised their hands. The same man counted the raised hands including his own. "Fifty? You people dumb shits or what? Whatever, Let's go." The 50 other participants backed out. As soon as the 50 participants left, a woman appeared from the side and said "To arrive at the second's task location, please follow me." "Second task already? Woo Hoo" Jake whooped and all of them followed to wherever the woman was leading them. She lead them to forest and onto the rocky path. The sky seemed to getting darker and darker as they walked along. "Uh... Lady, are you sure this is the right path?" Jake asked but the lady didn't reply to his question. "Hey, Woman! Do you hear me?" Jake spoke a little louder. Yet again she didn't speak. "Whatever. So why did you become kings" Jake changed the subject and kept talking and talking.

Some time later, the woman stopped in front of an newly built maze. "This is the entrance to the second task. You must go inside one by one . After 3 minutes the other man may go in. Good luck men." She left without looking back. after she left, the men did as she said. 

After they all went in, Not knowing where to go they are forced to trust their instincts. They constantly bumped into dead ends. Later it seemed that the sun is rising but knowing what time it is, they continued walking. The walls are as tall as 6 men and is made out of cement. By the looks of it, it seems almost impossible to win unless your able to find the exit on time. By now some men are lost, some are slacking off and some has gone insane. An hour later, someone started singing. After listening him talk for how many hours. Everybody recognized the person singing in an instant. It was Jake. Everyone nearby rushed towards his location, he sang Friendra's National anthem. He sang twice, 30 arrived and sang along. Some time later 200 participants. It was about 3 in the morning when they all gathered around. They divided into groups and assigned themselves with tasks. Jean and some other men gathered wood while Jake and others gathered food. While Alex treated those who accidentally injured themselves. 

Jean arrived first. "Yeah, just put it there." He said to one of the men whose with him and put it down. "Anyone here has a match or lighter?" Jean asked. Luckily a guy approached him and said "Here you go lad." He handed a box of matches to him. While Jean is trying to make a fire, Jake arrived and yelled "I AM BACK" Jean jumped in surprise. "Be quiet Jake." Alex said. "Yeah dude, shut up." Jean said. "What? Jean you too? you're supposed to be in my side!" Jake said. "I ain't siding with anybody." He said. Everything is set up. They all sat down chowing down on their food. "And I was like, 'OMG GOD I FOUND IT!YES YES YES' and I got bored and remembered about you losers, so I started singing to help you idiots." Jake recalled everything what happened during being in the maze. "More like a dying chipmunk singing his last words." Jean said and everyone laughed to his joke. "Jean, what's this?" Alex said. Jean turned to face Alex holding a small black box. Jean tried to grab the box from Alex who has his arm in the air and pushing Jean off him while laughing . "Give it back, man!" Jean shouted. As soon as he said it, Alex dropped the box. The box swung open to reveal a silver ring with a small diamond. "Who's the lucky lady Jean?" Jake said while grinning. "Just give it to me and I'll tell you who I'm proposing to. Deal?" Jean said. "Deal." Alex said and he smirked. The other participants are listening in too. Alex threw the box to Jean. Jean took a deep breath and sighed. "I'm going to propose to Clara, Lieutenant Clara Scarlet." When he said this, Alex swung his fist at Jean. Jean fell onto the ground and Jake rushed to his aid." WHAT WAS THAT FOR LAD?" Jean shouted at Alex. "YOU'RE DATING CLARA?!"  Alex shouted at Jean. "YOU SAID IT WAS ALRIGHT!" Jean got up to his feet and yelled back. "IT WAS A JOKE! I DIDN'T EXPECT YOU TO TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!" Alex shouted. Jean swung his fist at Alex. He broke his fall with his foot. "Lads, calm down alright?" Jake said nervously. The two Approached each other. There was only an inch between them. Jake pushed them away from each other. "Lads, stop it. C'mon we can talk it through." Jake said trying to calm the two. "What're you gonna do about it, Asshole?" Alex said. As soon he said it. Jean swung his fist once at his face and uppercut Alex' stomach. Alex spit out blood. "ALRIGHT, HOW ABOUT A BET?!" Jake said. Alex and Jean stared at Jake. "What's the bet?" The both of them said in unison. "Whoever becomes king, marries Clara." Jake said. "What if neither of them becomes king?" A man said. "This doesn't concern you. None of them gets to marry Clara. As simple as that." Jake said. The man just shrugged. Jake  turned his gaze from the man to Alex and Jean. "Deal?" Jake asked. "Deal!" The two said in unison and marched of to the other side of the Forest to sleep. They didn't fall asleep quickly. Their hearts heavy with anger at each other. They fell asleep a  little later than everyone else and slept in peace.

The next day, they woke up at noon by a voice of a woman saying. "RISE AND SHINE EVERYBODY!" The woman said. "IT'S TIME FOR THE SECOND TASK!" She said. "Wait. What second task?" Jake woke up by the woman's enthusiasm. "What? Y'all thought the one you did was the second task? Oh no honey, Second task starts now."
