Chapter Seven: Trust

1162 Words
Elijahs POV: The growl that erupted from inside me made Tyler back away and avoid my stare. I was furious. How in the hell did he get so close?? How did he get past the patrols undetected?? “Tyler, I want to speak to the alpha and to whoever is in charge of roving security. We are taking our Luna home now. “ “Yes Alpha” Once Tyler walked away I tried gathering my composure. I was going to have to explain to my mate how I failed in protecting her. How close she came to danger. I would have to explain that she needed to leave her earlier than we planned and she would have to rush her goodbyes. I took a deep breath and walked back into the bedroom to find the shower running and music playing in the bathroom. “Boss you have a meeting in ten minutes with both the alpha and his head of security” “Thank you, I want you there as well. Also link our pack back home and keep them updated on our situation” I cut the link and slowly walked towards the bathroom door. I could hear Maddy humming and singing every other word. Goddess I loved her. I knocked which abruptly stopped her humming. “Who is it?” She squeaked. “Just me my love, I have to go down for a meeting in a few minutes but I wanted to discuss a change of plans” “You can come in” I opened the door and moved toward the counter, I could see her shadow through the curtain which caused me to swiftly stare at the floor. Control yourself damn it. “So what has changed?” “We are leaving after the meeting. Something has come up and I no longer feel comfortable staying here. I’d like to head back to my home, our home, where I can ensure things are being taken care of. I’d just feel more comfortable in doing so” I waited for her to argue or ask questions, I looked up at the curtain and I saw her giving herself a shampoo Mohawk and then continue to scrub it out. She made me smile even when I was so nervous and scared. “Well if that’s what you feel is best I will be ready by the time you are done” I blinked in disbelief. She just blindly trusts my judgement. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding in. “Thank you Maddy, I will leave you to finish your shower now. See you in a bit” “You’re welcome Elijah” I shut the door on my way out and just stood there for a moment. My mate trusts me and my judgement. I’ve never had anyone who didn’t question my decisions or what I thought was best. I swear I’m going to protect her with all I have or die trying. Maddy’s POV: Once Elijah left the bedroom I quickly hopped up and ran to the shower. WHAT had just happened? If someone hadn’t knocked who knows what would of happened but also I don’t know if I would of wanted to stop. I love him. I love Elijah with every fiber of my being and it’s getting harder and harder to not give in and let him have every piece of me. Sigh. I just need to calm down. Nice long hot shower to calm my nerves. I had a long day ahead, I still had lots of goodbyes and packing to do. I turned on the shower and the radio, decided my last shower here would be one that I jammed out too. I started singing along and doing my own shower choreography when I heard a knock at the door. “Who is it?” Why do I sound like a mouse squeaking it’s answer? I think it’s because I already knew who it was. Charlie just barges in wherever I’m at, naked or not. Elijah on the other hand... “Just me my love, I have to go down for a meeting in a few minutes but I wanted to discuss a change of plans” Change of plans? “You can come in” I wondered what had happened in the few minutes of us being separated that changed our schedule around. I was lost in thought not realizing that the only thing between my naked body and Elijah was a shower curtain. I could see his shadow by the counter, he was looking at me but then quickly started staring at his shoes. Maybe he realized the naked elephant in the room also. “So what has changed?” “We are leaving after the meeting. Something has come up and I no longer feel comfortable staying here. I’d like to head back to my home, our home, where I can ensure things are being taken care of. I’d just feel more comfortable in doing so” He sounds so nervous and maybe even scared? I didn’t want to leave so quick, I still wanted to have a goodbye lunch with my parents and see Charlie but I could tell that something had happened, even if he didn’t want to tell me something or someone had made him uneasy and he wanted to take me home where he felt the safest and strongest. He wanted me safe. I can’t fight him on wanting that. He loves me. “Well if that’s what you feel is best I will be ready by the time you are done” Very Luna answer of me I smiled to myself. I heard Elijah let out a huge breath of air, was he expecting me to be angry? “Thank you Maddy, I will leave you to finish your shower now. See you in a bit” “You’re welcome Elijah” He definitely expected me to push and ask questions but if I have learned anything in my years of being the Alphas daughter it’s that they always put their packs safety of the upmost importance. Even when you don’t agree with their actions they are doing it for the greater good. I waited to hear the door shut behind him before I turned the water off and stepped out. I had to get moving in order to be ready in time. “Charlie, I’m leaving earlier than expected. Something must of come up so when you are ready come to my room please. Oh, and if you see my parents will you let them know too please?” “Yeah babe I’ll be right up, is everything okay?” “I don’t know, Elijah just said there had been a change of plans. Nothing more.” “Hmmm. How suspicious of mister tall dark and handsome.” I rolled my eyes at her response as I finished getting dressed and ready for my big moving day. I walked out into my room and finished up my random packing that I had left undone the night before. Worst case scenario I send for anything I forgot or I just buy new. Just then Charlie walked in holding a small box with a bow and tears in her eyes already. She was about to make me cry, I could sense it.
