My Alphas Promise

Chapter Eight: Stalked

Elijah's POV:

        After leaving Maddy's room I headed downstairs to meet up with Tyler and Alpha Grey's in his office. I wanted to inform him of why we were leaving in such a hurry but also to warn them that Rogues may continue to try to get on their land after we leave. Until we know their intentions its better to stay on alert.

        Tyler was waiting outside the door, both Alpha Grey and his son Jacob were already in the room waiting for me.

        "I haven't told them the reason for the meeting boss, I just said it was an urgent matter involving Miss Madeline, our Luna"

        I nodded and walked in first

        "Sorry to cause alarm so early this morning but I'm sure we are all on the same page when it comes to Madeline's safety. We seem to have had an unwanted visitor who came dangerously close to her window this morning."

Jacob's POV:

        I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Who would DARE come onto our lands and how could they get so close? My father spoke up before I could spew the horrors of what I planned on doing if anyone dared hurt my sister.

        "Did we capture this visitor? Do we know what their intentions where?"

        "Yes, he's being held in the tunnels by a few of your men as we speak. He's being questioned but I feel as though I already know the answers but not the motives."

        Elijah filled me and my father in on the fallen Rogue brother who ran off with his mate once he was deemed unable to fill the role of Alpha of the Eastern pack. He explained how his brother makes random appearances every few months but the fact that he just recently showed his face and then a Rogue shows up so soon after can't be a coincidence. After hearing all of this we all agreed it would be in Maddy's best interest to leave sooner rather than later. We send word to them later if we learned anything new or of interest after questioning  the Rogue in the tunnels. I haven't even officially become Alpha of my pack yet and I'm dealing with Rogues threatening my family's safety.  Alpha Elijah left to go attend to Maddy and see what else needed to be done before she left. Both my father and I headed towards the tunnels, we wanted to speak to our guest personally. 

        Once we reached the tunnels we followed the maze of hallways towards the cells, we saw two guards standing outside the furthest cell, and two men in their wolf forms further away. We walked towards them to see a sickly thin, bruised, mangy man chained to the wall.

        I walked closer as my father spoke to one of the men

        "Has he said anything? Do we know how he got through our security or why he even wanted to?"

        "No Alpha, He hasn't said a word other than a few niceties when we first put the chains on him."

        This made the Rogue smile, he turned his head to look at my father but once his eyes landed on me his smile turned to pure hatred. Did I know this man somehow? 

        "My name is Alpha Mason Grey, and you have my word that you will be released unharmed if you answer our questions. How did you get past my patrols?"

        No response. Eyes still burning holes into mine.

        "Did someone send you here? What are your intentions? I won't ask again."

        My father was losing his patience. Someone was outside his daughters room and he was going to get his answers one way or another but the Rogue finally took his eyes off me and slyly smiled at my father.

        "I came by orders of my King. He wanted information on his new bride" 

        This caused everyone in the room to react, my father tried calming himself but he shifted into his wolf towering over the man in the cell, who was obviously grateful for the bars between them. 

        "Take him tot he rack for questioning! I want to know everything about this "King" of his and what the fu*k they want with my sister NOW" 

        I all but snarled my orders at the guards, I was furious that someone thought they had a claim over my sister who wasn't her mate. I pushed my father out of the room and finally got him to calm down.

        "Sorry for my actions Jacob, I'll accompany them for now and help with the interrogations. You need to go update Alpha Elijah before they leave. He needs to know of the possible threat."

        I just nodded and took off to find Elijah. This King  doesn't realize he just messed with the two strongest packs. We would kill anyone in a heart beat if it meant keeping my sister and their Luna safe.

Maddy's POV:

        Charlie had just come in holding a small box with a bow, already tears in her eyes. I wasn't prepared for this goodbye with her. 

        "Why are you crying Charlie? This isn't  goodbye forever, just goodbye for now."

        "I know but you won't be just a walk away anymore, I can't imagine you not being here with me to talk every night. I will miss you so much.  *Sniffles* Here, I found our friendship bracelets we made when we were kids."

        I looked down at the rainbow beaded mess that was our bracelets. We were such dorks when we were younger that one read Peanut Butter and the other Jelly.

        "Oh my Goddess! You kept them after all this time?? I love you so much thank you!"

        "Of course I kept them silly,  I love them. They mean a lot to me"

        I leaped at her for a hug, taking her to the floor, now both crying and laughing as Elijah walked in and took in the sight of two sobbing girls in a hug on the floor of my bedroom.

Elijah's POV:

        I was taken aback for a moment walking in to my Luna's room to see her and her best friend a sobbing mess on the floor but in-between sobs they were laughing like maniacs. I didn't know whether to back away slowly or to just stand there and wait until they were finished but we had to get on the road and get going.

        "Ahem, Maddy I'm sorry to interrupt but we have to get going soon"

        "Yes, sorry, we got caught up in our goodbyes, I will be ready in just a minute"

        I nodded and then left them be. I headed downstairs and out to the car. Tyler was just finishing up loading the car when I came over. 

        "We are all set here boss,  just waiting on Miss Madeline's things and then we can get going. I've sent a few men ahead to scout the road. They will report back if anything seems off, I told them that the Rogues over here are too bold and have already threatened their new Luna. They didn't take too kindly to that."

        "Thank you Tyler,  Maddy will be down soon, she was just finishing up her last goodbyes with her friend. Have you heard back from home yet? I want everything ready for our arrival. We are bringing our Luna home and I want her to be happy with her new home"

        Then we both received a link from the wolves who went ahead to scout 

        "Alpha, we are seeing many Rogues in the brush and along the tree line, no one has yet to make a move. We await your orders on what you want us to do but I recommend postponing your journey until we get more men here to secure your safety and our Lunas"

        I looked at Tyler and noticed he was already linking with someone, I assumed our pack already requesting more wolves for our travel back home. How am I to keep Maddy safe with these crazed feral wolves at every corner? What is their obsession with her? What were we missing?  

        "Boss, reinforcements will be here by the end of the day. We can leave as soon as they arrive or wait until first light tomorrow."

        "No, we are leaving now. Go update Alpha Grey and tell him we need men to travel with us immediately. We are not going to stay here and wait for them to attack, for some reason they seem interested in Maddy and I refuse to let them get anywhere close to her. Any who dare to try will lose their lives. Do you understand?"

        "Yes Alpha, I will let everyone know. I will go speak with Alpha Grey now."

        Tyler went back into the house as I stared at the tree line in the distance. I saw the wolves patrolling and hoped for no more excitement. Please Goddess, just let me get my Luna home safely.

        "Alpha?"

        I turned to see both Jacob and Tyler standing there with anger and concern spread across their face.

        "What's going on?"

        "My father and I just spoke with the Rogue the guards brought in. He claims his King sent him to do recon on Maddy because he believes Maddy is his Bride".
