Chapter Ten: Attacked

1671 Words
Maddy's POV:     Rogues were coming out of the forest by the hundreds, we were surrounded and gravely out numbered. The pack wolves in front of us were quickly engulfed in their own battles, barely keeping up. The other SUV was being flipped on its side while the pack members where trying to get out and shift to protect themselves. Tyler immediately threw the vehicle in reverse and yelled to all of us "HOLD ON!"     We were being hit in every direction and some wolves were on the top of the vehicle but Tyler floored it and kept going, trying to shake them off and find a way through the hoard. Jacob and Elijah partially shifted showing their canines and claws as wolves kept ramming the sides of the vehicles, glass was cracking, only a matter of time before one of them got in or ripped their way through.      Tyler was trying his best to find a clear path but he kept getting road blocked by a group of Rogues, we knew we would have to get out and make a break for it. Charlie and I looked at each other both nodding before she yelled at the others the plan.      "Everyone out on three! We meet at Elijah's pack border!"     We all nodded in agreement, we knew we had no time to argue, either we all got out now and some of us make it or we waited and none of us did.     "1..2..3!"     We all jumped out, partially shifted taking down anything in our path. Once I was out of the car I lost sight of everyone, I felt a pit in my stomach not knowing how they were doing but I had to keep pushing through. I noticed no Rogue was trying to attack me but they were all huddled around me trying to push me towards a small van parked off the side of the road. I kept attacking and clawing my way through but no one was fighting back.      "What do you want?!"     They all just stared back at me, still slowly ushering me towards the van, not caring that I was clawing and biting at them. I started making a plan on who to take out first when I suddenly felt a sharp sting in the back of my neck. I swung around and clawed at the man responsible. He backed away with a sly smirk on his face and an empty syringe in his hand, wolves still surrounding us. No familiar face in sight.     "Who ar-"     Suddenly I felt dizzy and my vision blurred. Last thing I saw was the shadow of the man walking towards me and the last thing I felt was my head hitting the ground. Elijah's POV:     Tyler and I ended up being swarmed as soon as we were outside of the vehicle. We stayed back to back like we had been trained to do, we were managing but we lost sight of the others. I tried yelling out for Maddy but I didn't get a response. We kept fighting until we saw an opening and then we fully shifted and headed to our pack border where we would hopefully link up with the others. I kept checking over my shoulder as we ran to make sure we weren't being followed, so far we seemed to be safe.      We reached our border and Tyler started talking to the patrols about what happened and to be on the look out for the rest of our group. Some wolves ended up making it back here and also safely to Alpha Greys pack. No word on Maddy yet or the others. I started to get nervous, I tried Mind-linking her but no response. She couldn't be dead, I would of felt it, but she may be hurt and lying unconscious some where. I needed to find her.     Just as I was about to  put together a search team, we were alerted of two wolves who had reached the border asking for me. Tyler and I raced over to see it was Charlie and Jacob, they were given clothes and were changing behind one of the trees while we waited.     Charlie was the first to emerge, she looked at me and then to Tyler before asking     "Uhhh where is Maddy?"     "Maddy isn't here?" Jacob asked now fully dressed, walking towards us     "No, we haven't seen her yet, we were hoping she was with you. If she isn't back in the next ten minutes I will personally head up a search party." I started linking members of the pack to meet us here and be prepared for a fight if Rogues were still in the area.     "We didn't see her when we ran off, the Rogues were retreating and we finally saw our chance to take off so we did." Charlie looked at Jacob, tears in her eyes.      "They were retreating?"      Jacob walked over to Charlie who was now full on crying, trying to calm her down, "Yeah, there was another howl and they just started taking off. We don't know why."     "What if they started leaving because they got what they came for?" My stomach dropped. Tyler was turning red in the face, his hands balled into fists. He knew what I was talking about.     Charlie peeked her head out of Jacobs shoulder, "What do you mean?"     "They have Maddy" I growled. "Tyler, link the pack, I want every available wolf out there looking for her NOW!"     "Yes Alpha, I'll take a team with me right now and send coordinates with the rest to meet us there. We will get our best trackers on it. We will find her."     Jacob was pale in the face, just holding a now very emotional and angry mate.     "Jacob, we have to help find her. We don't know who has her or what they are doing to her. Send word to your Dad, have him send our trackers and more wolves to help."     She seemed to have snapped him out of it because he instantly reached for his phone and walked off to talk with his Dad, visibly shaking.     Pack members started to show up, Tyler was giving them the rundown while I went over to talk with Charlie, Maddy wouldn't want her best friend to be in pain like this. I tried offering her peace of mind by promising to bring her friend back. I swore to her on my life I would bring Maddy back, which only earned me a half smile back in return. I think we both know we can't make promises when we know nothing of the people or motives behind who took her friend, my mate, my Luna.     "Tyler, let's go!"     And with that we all shifted into our wolves so all of our senses would be heightened and we were prepared to attack any stragglers left behind and question them.      We reached the spot where we were attacked and saw the SUV flipped on its side, a few of mine and Jacob's wolves lay dead all around us. I ordered a few men to take them all home and inform their families of what happened. We would hold a ceremony for them this week, honoring them for giving their lives for their pack and their Luna.     "Over here!"      I turned my head to see one of our trackers off to the side of the road, he pointed his nose towards tired tracks and a set of foot prints     "Looks like they took off with her in a vehicle Alpha, and another tracker just found an empty syringe over there by your SUV, they are taking it back to the pack house to see what was inside it."     I nodded my head and turned back to the scene. There were Rogue bodies everywhere, I just needed to find one still breathing and make him pay. Maddy's POV:     I woke up on cold and hard surface, my head pounding and my body feeling heavy. I wondered how long I had been out. I tried lifting my hand to my face but I was stopped, my wrist was in chains that attached to a wet looking stone wall. I blinked a few times trying to take in my surroundings. Where the hell was I? There was no light except for that which came from underneath the door a few feet in front of me. Nothing else was in the room but me and a small bowl of water. I tried freeing my hands but it was no use, my body felt heavy and worn down, I couldn't even link anyone, every time I tried my head started burning in response.     All the commotion of me trying to free myself must of alerted my captor that I was awake because there was suddenly a lot of movement happening on the other side of the door. I looked around again in case I missed anything to help me defend myself, but sadly all I had was limited mobility of my hands and a small bowl of water. Fantastic.      Elijah will come for us     I had to smirk, Bodhi was trying to be positive but I could tell she was nervous too about whoever was on the opposite side of the door.     I know he will, we just have to survive long enough for him to find us     And with that, the door opened, shining very bright light into my small little cave-like room, after a few blinks my eyes adjusted showing a very tall, well built man who had scars all over his face and arms. He smiled at me which sent chills down my spine. I looked away from him, I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of eye contact.     "Well well, looks like my Bride is finally awake"
