Leo blew out a heavy breath but kept quiet as his buddies tossed more into the carts at the military surplus store. Surely they realized he and Vinnie were only two people and would have to be able to carry whatever they selected through the portal.
To be fair, much of this would be worn at the time. Leo’s preference was to enter that time quietly and do reconnaissance before deciding whether to approach or extract. But he and Vinnie had to be prepared in case people were either near or monitoring the spot where the portal opened on that end.
In which case, he would need to make a snap judgment on their approachability. And they needed to be ready to defend against a full-on assault.
