Chapter 19
Early that morning, Ben, Maya and Ilvy climbed up onto the dragon’s back. The people gathered around them couldn’t believe what they were seeing. It was as if the old legends were coming to life before their very eyes.
In fact, the three passengers were far from comfortable and clinging desperately to the dragon’s back. At every stroke of its wings the flying creature tilted one way or another, and all three of them had to hold on tight in order to avoid plunging to certain death. But in no time at all they were soaring over the floating island, and Ruby City looked diminutive from so high above.
Ilvy and Maya had never imagined that anything like this could happen to them. They gasped in wonder as the forest and the crystal mirror fanned out beneath them.
