Chapter 8 When Ben woke up, he had no idea where he was. The dawn sunrise was shining through the cloudy glass of the window, but he could already hear people talking in the square, and the footsteps of people on their way to work. Seeing Maya, breathing gently on the other bed and half out of the sheets, brought everything rushing back: the gallery, the forest, Ruby City. The events of the day before replayed themselves vividly in Ben’s mind, and he decided to get up and look around. At the end of his bed, he saw a clean, neatly folded garment in the bright colours worn by everyone in Ruby City and tried it on.
