James slapped away a Divine Begat in front of him with one palm, floating backward, frowning and looking at the distant sky.
The golden pages in his hand flickered, and the Chronicler's Quill recorded a line of words on it:
In the New Era year 109, March 5th, the Ice Queen - Diana Matthews, refreshed the record of the youngest sixth level!
Adam also sensed the commotion here.
The keenness of Hearing of Everything made it impossible for him not to feel such strong energy fluctuations outside, especially the Absolute Freezing superpower that was of the same as his.
At this time, he was dealing with the fifth wave of Acolytes' attack alone, fighting eight at a time!
It seemed that every battle since he came to this world was him taking on a group by himself, as if he was destined to be a lone wolf.
"Damn, is the development of this power so violent?"
"This is what an SSS-class superpower is like. If I develop it to this level, I should be able to kill these people in an instant."
"Diana, you are freaking awesome."
While speaking, frost surged all over his body, and the color of his pupils was replaced by pale. With his power exploding, he froze the Acolytes rushing towards him in the air, making them unable to move an inch.
In a flash, he appeared in front of a person who was about to break free from the ice, and without mercy, he inserted the long knife in his hand into the other's neck, with a wild look in his eyes.
"Twenty minutes left."
"I said, within three hours, this road is impassable!!!"
From the first wave when he inserted the long stick into the chest of that fourth-level Acolyte until now, he didn't know how many Acolytes he had dealt with.
It seemed that the mockery of the Acolyte leader was still echoing in his ears: "You can withstand us, but can you withstand an army?"
Adam now responded with his strength and facts - he could withstand them!
He promised he could withstand them, and he could!
He alone was as powerful as an army of thousands!
Crash!
The huge axe fell, and a large bull's head fell from the sky to the ground.
This Deity, who had made a grand entrance with an overwhelming presence at the beginning, ended in a very hasty way.
The ruthless frost axe fell, cutting off his head and also the dignity of the Deity.
Although it was just a projection, and not the true body, it was still a Deity!
Ice Queen Diana, after thirty-seven minutes, successfully killed a Deity!
But there was no trace of joy or relaxation on her face. She just took out a watch from her space-superpower storage device in the first place.
—Two hours and fifty-eight minutes.
Diana transformed into a bolt of ice-blue lightning, dashing back in a certain direction. Ignoring the energy core on the ground and the residual energy fragments, which were extremely valuable in the superhuman world, she left them there. In her heart, she had more important matters to attend to.
Her lips still stained with a hint of blood, golden light seared her pupils, making her eyes appear a beautiful cyan-gold hue. Her destination was clear—Doyles Stadium!
With the agreed-upon three hours approaching, all the Divine Fetuses had been located, some already destroyed. And those that could potentially manifest were under the watch of top-tier experts like Thomas, no longer posing a threat of drawing the conflict to the students.
Even if, by some slim chance, none of these protective measures were in place, Diana would still go to see Adam.
It was she who had secured him an assessment-free admission spot, and it was she who had brought him to Orienta! Thus, she could not bear the thought of anything happening to Adam; if misfortune did strike, she would feel responsible for leading him into such a predicament.
Consequently, the distance of over two thousand meters from the artificial river to the stadium was covered by her in less than thirty seconds.
But upon reaching the entrance, her steps faltered, trembling slightly.
Please, let nothing have gone wrong.
Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, and stepped through the stadium's doors. Inside was an entirely different world.
It was as if she had entered an ice palace!
Adam's ice, unlike Diana's ice-blue, was a pale hue, yet it seemed even more chilling and indifferent.
The ceiling was devoid of any modern fixtures, with icicles hanging upside down, resembling a glacial cave.
The surrounding sports facilities, basketball hoops, and badminton nets were all covered in ice and snow, their original appearances unrecognizable.
The ground was littered with bodies, and ice sculptures were scattered everywhere. The faces of the Acolytes within the sculptures still bore the ferocity and cruelty from their lives, now eternally frozen in the merciless cold.
The scene here resembled the aftermath of a palace coup in the royal court of an ice kingdom.
Her eyes scanned the chaos, and finally, she spotted Adam.
In the load-bearing main wall, there was a large indentation, and within it, a figure was impaled against the wall by a spear, with countless fallen bodies before him.
"Adam!"
Diana cried out in alarm, her heart seeming to skip a beat for a moment as she flashed over to Adam's side, not even noticing when she shattered an Acolyte ice sculpture in the process.
"Don't scare me like that! How are you?" She urgently cupped his blood-stained face with both hands, her voice instantly filled with panic, even taking on a slightly tearful tone.
In that instant, she forgot she was the Ice Queen, feeling as if she had returned to five years ago, to that little girl who first entered the university, knowing nothing, feeling lonely and a bit scared.
Her mind went blank; the worst had happened, and she was at a loss for what to do next.
"Ugh, don't touch me, it hurts. Is it time already?"
Adam opened his eyes, looking at the familiar woman before him, and quickly spoke up.
In reality, he was perfectly fine; he was just conserving energy, having expended a great deal and needing a moment to recover. He wasn't on the brink of death.
Moreover, he was already aware that Diana had arrived, so he relaxed, no longer needing to force himself to stay alert for the next wave of powerful foes.
This relaxation caused the breath he had been holding to escape, and he appeared unusually listless.
"You're not dead?!" Diana exclaimed in relief.
Adam: This woman seems to never have been very good with words.
"Not yet. We agreed on three hours, but only you came back. Thomas is not keeping his word."
"The agreed-upon reward is insufficient; it needs to be increased! I didn't expect it to be this bad before we started. It hurts like hell, damn it!"
Diana's gaze dropped, and only then did she notice the spear in Adam's chest.
Due to the freezing, it had stopped bleeding, but it still gleamed with a golden light, clearly a weapon imbued with divine might, continuing to infect the terrifying wound.
To her, the injury seemed fatal, and hearing Adam still cracking jokes, Diana became anxious:
"Don't move, I'll go out and find a superhuman with medical abilities for you!"
However, as soon as she turned to leave, Adam stopped her.
"No need. Be careful and help me slowly pull this spear out, just make sure not to hurt my heart."
"How's the situation outside? If it's not good, you should go ahead. I'm actually okay here."
Diana turned her head in shock, even suspecting that Adam had gone mad.
"Pull it out? Directly pulling it out would cause secondary damage, excessive bleeding!"
