Hearing Diana's concern, Adam raised his hand and touched his nose, saying:
"I don't know if you'll believe me when I say this, but my superpower, well, it has a new variant now."
"This time, it has greatly strengthened my physical body, with a strong recovery ability. If you pull it out, I'll be fine soon. Haven't you noticed that I don't have many wounds on me?"
Diana: ???
A new variant again?!
This is too hasty. What is this thing? In the future, the Energy Chain will just be the strongest superpower, right? It can casually mutate a variant with an earth-shattering function.
Walking to Adam's side and looking closely, she realized that although his clothes were tattered and his body was covered in blood and dirt, apart from the piercing wound in his chest, there were indeed hardly any other injuries.
After examining carefully, Diana blinked in shock. This man was constantly creating surprises.
So, with one hand gently supporting the wall beside Adam and the other controlling the force, she began to slowly and steadily pull the spear out.
"When I came back, I had already informed the others. President Freud and the rest know I'm here, so they won't come back and will continue to fight the enemies."
While operating, Diana spoke, both explaining and trying to distract Adam's attention.
"Haha, it's good that you came back alone. It's better that they don't see me like this."
"I must look quite disheveled now, my appearance is too undignified."
Adam forced a laugh through the intense pain.
After all, not only was he in tattered clothes, covered in blood and mud, and with disheveled hair, but he also remembered that several strands of hair on the right side of his head had been shaved off.
After all, even though the Demigod's Body was powerful enough to continuously repair his body as long as he was alive, it couldn't make his hair grow back quickly.
"No!" Hearing this, Diana suddenly said earnestly.
Looking straight into Adam's eyes, their gazes met in the air, and Diana said very seriously:
"It's not like that. There's nothing undignified about you. You don't look bad at all. In fact, you are super, duper handsome!"
The eyes of the two met in the air for a full five seconds before Adam finally attempted to break the tension.
"Uh... could you pull that spear out first? I can't move at all like this."
Hearing Adam's words, Diana snapped back to her senses and quickly focused on pulling the spear out.
However, a blush crept up her cheeks, feeling hot and fiery.
Diana bowed her head forcefully, not wanting Adam to see the redness on her face.
Diana's flirting-like words ealier had made the atmosphere particularly awkward.
But Diana couldn't help but feel annoyed at Adam's non-reaction. How could he seem so unfazed?
As she thought about it, suddenly, a few Acolytes rushed in through the door.
"Bastards!" Without turning her head, Diana flicked her right hand backward, unleashing a surge of frost. The incoming Acolyte squad didn’t even have time to speak before they were frozen into icy shards.
Having just advanced to the sixth level, Diana’s powers had reached new heights. At this point, dealing with these third and fourth-level opponents was exceedingly simple.
Adam watched the scene unfold, utterly speechless.
Although he had managed to hold his ground for three hours without letting anyone cross the line, it had been after a fierce battle.
It wasn’t as easy as what Diana just did.
Plop!
A muffled sound echoed as the spearhead was finally pulled out of Adam's chest.
This action seemed to drain all of Adam's strength, his legs gave way, and his entire body collapsed downward.
Three hours. He hadn’t been killed, but he was practically exhausted.
But in the next instant, he found himself collapsing into a soft embrace. Diana’s slightly anxious voice rang in his ear.
"You said you could heal yourself, right?! What’s wrong?"
As she spoke, Diana knelt on one knee, allowing Adam to lean half against her thigh, his head resting against her abdomen.
But looking at the terrifying wound on his chest, which was rapidly healing, Diana finally let out a sigh of relief.
"It’s not that. I’m just really tired. My health bar hasn’t changed much, but my mana is completely depleted."
Adam joked while slightly moving his head, suddenly feeling a soft, round sensation.
"Hmm, what is this?"
Slap!
Diana heavily slapped Adam’s head and said with a slightly flushed face:
"Stop moving around!"
At that moment, several superhumans with injuries rushed in through the door, their footsteps hurried.
Diana turned sharply, recognizing them as allies, and lowered her hand, ready to attack. She asked:
"Why are you here? What’s going on? Is the situation outside under control?"
They quickly stopped and responded:
"The general situation has stabilized, thanks to your successful slaying of a Deity earlier, which greatly demoralized them!"
"But..."
As he spoke, his gaze paused, noticing the scene before him, his eyes nearly popping out.
Why was there a man lying in Ice Queen’s arms? And his head was resting on...
"But what? Go on," Diana frowned, "This is Adam. He held this place for three hours and got injured."
The superhuman almost blurted out, "I’m injured too," but ultimately decided against it and quickly continued:
"But we need to evacuate some people."
"The Divine Fetuses have been completely destroyed. Earlier, a Deity’s projection descended, but Strengthquaker and Mr. Steele jointly eliminated it."
"But now, a 'Rampant' level Deity has appeared. Though it’s also a projection, this one feels very real!"
Upon hearing this, Diana immediately became serious:
"A 'Rampant' level? Are you sure?!"
"Mr. Freud said so."
"Alright, hurry to the underground, bring the students out, and start organizing the evacuation!"
They acknowledged her order and quickly ran toward the underground.
"'Rampant' level? What level is that? It sounds like another term I’ve never heard of." Adam asked.
"It’s a classification system created by 'the Father of All Superhumans' for Deities, divided into Malevolent, Ferocious, Rampant, Devastating, and Annihilating levels."
"Oh, so Deities have levels too. But Rampant is only the third level? Is it easy to deal with?"
"Very difficult. The power of Deities is different from what you imagine. If their true form descends, Rampant would already be a world-class disaster."
"Fortunately, it’s just a projection. With President Freud here, it should be manageable."
After a brief explanation, seeing that Adam’s wounds had healed, Adam gestured for Diana to help him stand up.
Looking around at the battlefield, he felt relatively satisfied about what he had done.
With somewhat unsteady steps, Adam said:
"Take me outside, Diana. Let me see."
"Back in my hometown, Deities were intangible entities."
"Coming here has allowed me to witness what a real Deity looks like."
"Alright," Diana didn’t refuse and naturally linked arms with Adam, "I’ll take you. You’re probably still not in great shape."
With that, she moved, taking flight and bringing Adam outside.
Not long after, Adam was captivated by the sight before him.
The entire sky was golden!
No exaggeration, no metaphor—just an entirely golden sky!
Above, Thomas floated quietly, his clothes moving without wind, as if submerged in a golden sea.
In front of him was a golden light mass, without a discernible shape, just a golden glow.
On the ground, superhumans stood everywhere, but all quickly moved away from the golden light, heads bowed.
—This was the intimidation of a Deity!
When Deities appear, everyone retreats!
"Is this a Deity?" Adam stared at the golden light, somewhat dazed.
Before he could finish, darkness enveloped his vision as a hand covered his eyes.
"Do not look directly at a Deity. Especially not for the first time! It could traumatize your mind!" Diana whispered in his ear.
