Adam: "If it doesn’t affect you, bring me closer. I’m fine. My self-healing ability isn’t afraid of this."
Ultimately, Diana couldn’t resist him and brought him closer to watch Thomas’s battle with the golden light, always ready to cover his eyes.
But now, Diana turned her head, amazed by Adam’s current expression.
In fact, for many superhumans, seeing a Deity for the first time was a hurdle.
That intense mental contamination could easily shatter their invincible mindset in an instant, leaving lifelong shadows and preventing them from reaching their full potential.
Even the most resolute geniuses often trembled involuntarily the first time.
In short, whether firm, fearful, indignant, or despondent, all were normal reactions.
But not Adam.
In his eyes, reflecting the golden light, there was excitement amidst calm.
Like a fish swimming upstream, full of rebellion, as if saying:
—You say not to look directly at a Deity? I’ll look anyway!
Diana was now extremely conflicted, debating whether she should cover Adam's eyes.
From the look of it, he seemed to be already entranced. Staring directly at a Deity and becoming entranced was not a good sign—it was a precursor to being bewitched.
However, Adam’s gaze remained clear, without any hint of dispersion.
Finally, Diana couldn’t help but speak up: “Are you okay? If not, close your eyes. Don’t push yourself.”
“I’m fine. My body can handle it. I’m not afraid of the Deity’s mental influence.”
As Adam spoke, he kept his eyes fixed on the Deity. His pupils were already scorched by divine power, emitting golden smoke, and his Demigod's Body was helping him recover rapidly.
But he continued to stare at the Deity, as if trying to take in every detail.
“What are you thinking about? Why do you seem so obsessed with this Deity?” Diana finally couldn’t resist asking.
“Have you ever experienced a time before superpowers existed, when there were no superhumans in the world?” Adam countered.
Diana rolled her eyes. “Superpowers have been around for a hundred years. I’m nineteen. What do you think?”
Adam chuckled softly and shook his head.
“In my hometown, people often worshipped some vague yet supremely powerful ‘gods.’”
“But those things never truly appeared in the world. Most were made into statues and enshrined.”
“And now, such an existence is actually standing right in front of me!”
“Perhaps you can’t understand how I feel.”
At this moment, what shone in Adam’s eyes was something called ambition—a rebellious spirit of a young man challenging supreme authority.
Of course, this feeling was completely incomprehensible to Diana, who was born into the superhuman era and accustomed to all sorts of strange abilities.
“Where is your hometown?” Diana asked curiously.
“It’s a beautiful place. Let me continue watching for now.”
Meanwhile, Thomas had reached the white-hot stage of his battle with the golden light mass.
Their fight was incredibly bizarre, looking nothing like what people imagined combat to be.
The entire sky had turned into a golden ocean. With each attack, the golden sea surged, as if the whole world was swaying with their battle.
Adam couldn’t tell what kind of superpower Thomas was using, but it was obvious that this old man looked completely different from his usual self.
His face was fierce, his beard bristling like steel needles. Behind him loomed a massive projection, its features indistinguishable.
With each palm strike, space itself rolled forward, surging to envelop the golden light.
And with every flash of the golden light, the waves of the golden ocean would completely engulf Thomas.
At this point, the scene didn’t look like two individuals fighting; instead, it seemed as if the entire world had split into two parts, pressing and colliding against each other.
Adam could hardly imagine the energy fluctuations there, but looking at all the buildings beneath them, they had already lost their solid properties, twisting and flowing like liquid.
This was true Deity-level power!
“This is getting too intense. We need to retreat a bit.”
Diana whispered in Adam’s ear and then, without waiting for a response, quickly pulled him back.
In fact, she had already been using her energy field to shield him from the overflowing energy.
“President Freud looks very different from usual. What level of superhuman is he? Can he handle this? Isn’t anyone going to help him?”
Adam didn’t resist. He knew that in his current state, he probably couldn’t even withstand the aftershocks of the battle. He just asked out of curiosity.
Diana looked up at the distant fight and gently shook her head.
“He should be able to handle it. And even if he can’t, none of us here can do anything to help.”
“Don’t you think President Freud usually seems very unserious, with strange methods and ideas, and doesn’t act like a leader at all?”
Adam nodded in agreement.
“Yes, you’re right. He’s a very unserious person.”
“All the major and minor affairs of Orienta University are managed by the vice president. The reason Freud became president is simple—he’s strong!”
“He’s the strongest among the Top-Eight Superhuman Universities, universally recognized as the most powerful in the level-7.”
“Superhumans are divided into 9 levels. The fourth and fifth levels are a watershed, as are the seventh and eighth levels.”
“Experts who reach level-5 are called Paragons. At level-8, human strength becomes godlike, earning the title Ascendant. And superhumans at level-9 are called Saints!”
“President Freud once said: ‘Below the Ascendants, I am invincible!’”
As she spoke, Diana’s eyes began to sparkle with admiration.
Although countless people believe her future achievements will surpass Thomas’s, she still yearned for such power.
The battle there had now entered its final, life-or-death phase.
Diana, holding Adam’s hand, shifted to supporting his waist to pull him back repeatedly.
This position made it look like they were dancing.
But she didn’t notice that Adam’s condition had become very abnormal.
Unlike most people in this world, Adam had only mastered his superpower half a month ago.
Just after gaining powers beyond ordinary humans, he pushed his potential to the limit. Now, he was directly exposed to the radiance of a Deity.
The progress was simply too fast and compact, causing some qualitative changes.
As Adam watched, he suddenly felt an unshakable barrier within himself waver.
Then—he blacked out, losing consciousness.
Diana: ??? He was fine just a moment ago. How did he suddenly pass out?!
Upon noticing this, she immediately took Adam and fled far away. Then, she pulled out her special communication device and shouted into the receiver:
“Is there any superhuman with medical abilities nearby? Come to me quickly!”
A few minutes later, those who had finished their tasks rushed over.
A few more minutes passed, and Clark, Norman, and others gathered around, all with serious expressions, looking at Adam lying on the ground. Clark squatted down to check his condition.
After a while, Clark stood up, frowning deeply.
“How is he?!” Diana’s heart sank, and she quickly asked.
“My examination shows that all his vital signs are perfect, and he doesn’t even have a minor injury!” Clark continued to frown.
“The energy inside him is also very stable, showing no signs of trouble.”
“Why don’t you try mouth-to-mouth resuscitation?” Clark suggested, looking at Diana.
Clark’s words carried a teasing undertone.
Diana snapped, “This is no time for jokes!”
Clark shrugged and replied, “Relax a bit. From what I can tell, he’s fine—his breathing is steady, his body’s in good condition. He looks like he’s just asleep.”
“You said he suddenly collapsed? What happened just now?”
Upon hearing Clark’s question, Diana quickly recounted how Adam had been staring directly at the Deity and observing Thomas’s battle.
By this time, Richard—the bald man who had stabilized the Realm earlier—had arrived. After hearing the story, he crouched down, placing his right hand on Adam’s head. A faint glow emanated as he seemed to sense something.
