"How dare you!"
"Wretched! You are committing blasphemy."
"Protect the divine fetus!"
"Damn it!"
All the figures in black leaped into action, with two of them directly positioning themselves in front of the fleshy tumor.
Judging by their determination, Adam suspected they wouldn't be this vigilant even when protecting their own children.
This simple strike broke through the encirclement, achieving more than Adam had initially imagined.
He was clear about why he had come here in the first place, and swiftly picked up the two kids from the ground.
At this moment, he couldn't worry about being gentle; with a forceful tug, the blood vessels connected to the ten fingers of the two children were severed, causing blood to splatter.
Although they had already lost consciousness, this action still caused the children to let out a few moans of pain, their faces contorting.
After a few acrobatic leaps, Adam quickly created distance between himself and the group, finally taking a proper look at the children.
Their expressions were contorted, their faces pale, clearly indicating they had lost a significant amount of blood.
There were no other obvious wounds on their bodies, except for their ten fingernails, all of which had been pried open!
These wounds were quite shocking to see, and painful to look at. Adam wasn't sure if the children had fainted from blood loss or from the pain.
Thankfully, they seemed to still be alive.
Using his superpower, he froze their fingers to stop the bleeding, a temporary measure, and placed them aside for now.
With the two "blood donors" removed, the blood-red tumor visibly dimmed, and its heartbeat-like pulsing became weak.
"How dare you! Bring back the sacrifices!" one of the figures in black roared, conjuring a blood-red blade in his hand and charging at Adam.
Adam stood his ground, abruptly raising his left hand towards the charging figure.
In an instant, frost enveloped the area! A harsh paleness blanketed the earth, turning the space before Adam into a zone of ice and snow!
He had been concerned about harming the children with a wide-area freezing superpower, but now the situation was different.
The figure in black, still in his charging posture, seemed to move in slow motion as he was gradually frozen in place, his blade forever locked in its forward thrust on the ground.
"How is this possible! Is your superhuman level really None? Is your superpower rating truly E?" the figure in white shouted at those around him, then turned to face Adam.
"Young man, you are stronger than I anticipated, but do you understand what you are desecrating?"
"Return the sacrifices; it is their honor! In the heavenly realm, the Lord will bless their souls with eternal peace!"
"And who are you? You do not exist in my records; perhaps we can talk."
Adam straightened his posture, acutely aware that his superpower had improved in every aspect during this battle!
A chilling aura enveloped him, with menacing ice-blue battle armor covering all his vital spots, half his face crawling with blue-white frost patterns, even his eyes turned white.
Adam stood there like a deity from an ancient ice-cold relic.
"It seems I'm stronger than you thought, but you folks are a bit weaker than I expected," Adam said.
Adam's strength was evident to all.
After his words, no one dared to underestimate him anymore; the ice sculptures and the two bodies on the ground reminded them that the person standing before them was not to be trifled with.
The figure in white seemed to realize that Adam was not someone to be messed with and started to soften his tone.
"Young man, don't be too arrogant. If you are willing to turn back, the Lord will forgive all your sins."
"Your ignorance and foolishness stem from not knowing the truth. If you knew the greatness of the Lord, you would regret your actions today."
Adam had no interest in engaging with him. In his view, these cult brainwashed individuals had nothing of value to say; their thinking was entirely different from that of normal people.
His eyes slowly scanned each person's face, silently counting their numbers.
One, two, three... there were eleven figures in black, plus one in white.
Adam responded, speaking while taking even breaths to recover his spent energy.
"Religion? We have something like that back in my hometown, too. People often believe in various so-called deities."
"Oh?" The figure in white was taken aback for a moment, then his voice brightened with joy, as if he had found a long-lost friend, and he quickly asked:
"Really? Which deity do you worship? Since you are like us, why are you causing us trouble?"
"Which one? That's hard to say, there are so many, each in charge of different domains."
"There are ones for rain, for exams, for finding a partner, for childbirth, you name it, they cover everything."
"Anyway, when the time comes, people will worship them, praying for their blessings and protection."
Listening to Adam's words, the figure in white half-opened his mouth, as if in ecstasy, murmuring:
"Yes, the Lord is all-powerful, encompassing everything; we should serve Him with all our hearts."
However, Adam's voice soon rang out again, breaking his inexplicable reverie.
"But you know, it seems there's a difference between us."
"Those who pray for love, if their crush accepts them, they are grateful to the gods, but if rejected, they curse and swear at them immediately."
"Those praying for exam results, if they pass, they go to the church to kowtow and donate money, but if they fail, they curse the gods' very existence."
"And those praying for rain are even worse; they worship one day, and if it doesn't rain the next, they'll smash and dismantle the statues and sink them in the river!"
The figure in white was left speechless.
For a moment, he felt his worldview crumbling, staring at Adam with wide eyes, as if his eyeballs would pop out.
"How could you... be so disrespectful... you!!"
"Cough, cough, cough!"
At this point, he was so angry he could barely speak, and violent coughing fits ensued, even coughing up blood.
It seemed as if Adam's words almost killed him.
"You're not getting away today!"
The figure in white coughed up a few mouthfuls of blood, realizing that Adam had been toying with him, his eyes now red with fury like a vengeful spirit.
Adam, having caught his breath, pushed his hands forward, unleashing an intense cold from his body like a flowing glacier, crashing towards his adversaries!
"I'm leaving? You wish!" he shouted, holding nothing back, his superpower at full throttle!
Blade lights and shadows interwove, with blue-white and blood-red clashing in this deserted urban block.
The battle was fierce, yet it didn't last long.
Soon, all returned to silence, as if nothing had happened there that night.
"Huff, huff, huff."
Adam's heavy breaths echoed through the quiet night, like an old, worn-out bellows.
His frost armor was scarred and broken in many places, with a corrosive red glow etched upon it.
Numerous wounds were visible on his body, but they had been hastily sealed with ice, stopping any blood from flowing.
Disheveled strands of hair flew across his forehead, some clumped with blood.
Yet, his right hand was tightly gripping the neck of the figure in white, clamping down like a vise, immobilizing his foe.
If one pulled back to view the scene,
Around him, in this small square, were eleven distinct, lifelike ice sculptures!
And at the center, the tumor, frozen like an exquisite work of art.
Adam's first battle in this world of superhumans, 1 versus 12, ended in a decisive victory in just six minutes.
"Cough, cough."
The figure in white, throat constricted, eyes bulging like a dead fish, stared fixedly at the young man's face.
"How is this possible, the power of your superpower..."
