Chapter 7 The trial for all students admitted without assessment

Finally, all matters were settled, and under the lingering glow of the setting sun, Diana stood before the group of six once again.

However, her demeanor was noticeably off at this moment.

Apart from Adam, who seemed indifferent, the other five were clearly aware that Diana was in a peculiar mood, casting occasional fierce glances at Adam.

Unfortunately, only Adam seemed to miss her somewhat resentful gaze, leaving the others around her utterly bewildered.

"My private jet will arrive tomorrow. Be here on time tomorrow afternoon," she said.

"Tonight, brief your families and don't bring anything. The university will provide everything for you."

At this moment, the red-haired student's thoughts became active again.

Being able to serve as a chief assessor in such a place, Diana must be extraordinary.

He needed to find a way to get closer to her.

So, he quickly stepped forward and said to Diana with a smile:

"Hello, I don't have any issues at home, but I have some questions about superpowers that I'd like to ask you."

Diana, who was watching Adam's cheerful departure with a bit of annoyance, turned back to look at the red-haired student in front of her and asked with confusion:

"Who are you?"

"Ah?" The red-haired student was clearly taken aback and awkwardly said, "My name is Edward Flame, one of the students admitted without assessment."

"Let's talk later, I don't have time today. I'm only responsible for assessments and won't have much interaction with students."

After saying this, Diana turned away and ignored him, calling out to Adam, who had already walked away:

"Adam! Don't leave yet, I have some superpower-related matters to discuss with you."

Edward: ? Different treatment?!

Hearing her voice, Adam instinctively stopped in his tracks, inwardly groaning.

He just wanted to hurry back and play games to relax before preparing to leave.

After all, he had almost nothing except for basic living facilities, having spent his last bit of money on food these past few days, leaving him penniless.

He didn't even know whose house he was living in, as he had never met the landlord.

So, after obtaining a spot without assessment, he was only thinking about how to escape the unknown rent.

Turning around and looking at Diana, who had walked up to him, he forced a smile and asked:

"What's up? I'm in a hurry to get back."

Diana looked at his reaction with a mix of annoyance and amusement.

Usually, people were hesitant to approach her, but when given the chance, they couldn't wait to strike up a conversation.

But here was this man, clearly eager to get away.

Yet, that was just his style.

"What's the rush? I wanted to share some information with you. What's the hurry to get back to?" Diana asked.

"I want to go back and play online games," Adam replied honestly, seeing no reason to hide it.

Hearing this, Diana was genuinely at a loss for words. Why could he always state strange things with such conviction?

Though she had some understanding of Adam's personality online, she still felt a bit of a headache in person.

But this feeling dissipated quickly.

Because she suddenly remembered that Adam had always been playing games with her!

So, was he playing for the sake of spending time with me?

Thinking this way, she felt oddly pleased.

She composed herself and spoke softly, "It won't take much of your time. Is there nothing else? Are your family worried?"

Adam shrugged, "That's not an issue. I don't have any family or friends."

"What?" Diana was taken aback, "You're an orphan?"

Immediately realizing her slip, Diana quickly covered her mouth. "I'm sorry..."

"It's nothing," Adam said nonchalantly, "No need to apologize, it's the truth."

Diana looked at Adam with a hint of pity for a while, and finally, when he felt uncomfortable from her gaze, she changed the subject.

Clearing her throat, Diana said to Adam:

"The appearance of an ice variant in the Energy Chain, I've never seen it before, but superhumans haven't been around in this world for long, so it's normal I haven't. I don't intend to ask for details."

"In your future training, try to control the temperature of your superpower and often experience the affinity with the environment in cold settings."

Speaking of training, Diana became much more serious.

Her advice to Adam was essentially a summary of her own experiences.

"Also, the rating of your E-rated superpower, I've reported it, and it can't be changed for now."

"I'm sorry that this might lead to some people underestimating you, but your real combat strength is fine, and I'll definitely apply for a special assessment for you as soon as I get back."

Adam wasn't sure why Diana was giving him this extra advice, but he knew she meant well, so he didn't show any signs of impatience.

What did she mean by 'are you short on cash'?

What was he talking about?

Was this really how he lived? Such a talented superhuman was living like this?

Looking at Adam's face, Diana fell into deep thought.

Without hesitation, she took out her phone and retrieved a black card from her Space Superpower Necklace.

She placed the card on her phone, made a few quick operations, and handed it to Adam.

"There's $300,000 on this card, the PIN is six zeros. Take it."

"You don't have to worry about money anymore. As long as you focus on training and improving your strength, superhumans won't lack for funds."

Adam: What?!

$300,000? Just like that, for no particular reason?!

Looking at the black card being handed to him, he was genuinely stunned.
