There was no lookout atop the wall that circled a front courtyard, nor was there a guard at the door that pierced it. Some of the tension went out of Harun as he saw that. The place might be something of a fortress, but the owner wasn’t acting as if he was under siege. That would make things simpler. Harun circled the house, slipping silently through the trees around it. There was a small stable behind it, with a pair of horses whose scent was quite familiar. They’d pulled the carriage he’d followed on this final leg of the journey. A sharp-toothed grin spread across his feline face as he saw that there was also a servant’s door.
