Emma My hands were trembling as I mixed the herbs into a small wooden bowl. The harsh aroma filled the air, making my eyes tear up. Or maybe that was just the tears I was struggling to hold back. I glanced over at Jade, lying so still on the bed. Her chest barely moved with each shallow breath. How had it come to this? "It's ready," I whispered, more to myself than anyone else.
