It has been four weeks since my brothers and I have seen another living person. Did I take a huge risk by climbing that tree to get a better look at her, yes I did. Sunnie is the most beautiful and weirdest girl I have met in my entire life and her humor, it's been a nice change. She is acting brave, but we can all feel how sad she is being at her apartment. I would be too if the last time I seen my family they were zombies or kittens like she calls them.
I think I may like this girl and from the looks of it my brothers feel the same way. " Sunnie you don't have to go in first, if you want one of us can have a look and let you know what we find." Sunnie stops walking further into her apartment and gives us a relieved look. " Please, that means a lot to me Toby. Thank you." said Sunnie.
I walk in the small apartment and pull out my flash light. First room is the living room, it was trashed, but no zombies. Next was the kitchen, it's empty either she never went to the store or someone was already here. Bathroom was clear I get to the last door and slowly open the door and wait, gun ready just in case. " Sunnie was this the room you seen them in last?" I was hoping she said no, that it was another room. " Yes that was the room, I closed the door after I ran out." said Sunnie.
What I seen when I walk in broke my heart, someone was definitely here before us. To zombies dead under a sheet on the floor. I pull the sheet back to see a older women, minus all the blood, she was very pretty a older version of Sunnie. The next one I see broke my heart. I new immediately that this was Sunnie's little sister, I wasn't prepared for her to be this young. She looked to be only seven or eight years old.
I don't realize I have tears running down my face until I walk out of the room and Sunnie runs over to me. " It's them isn't it? They are in there aren't they?" said Sunnie. I grab a hold of her and pull her into my chest for a hug. I'm not sure who needed it more right now me or her. " You don't want to see them like that, let us cover them up, and tomorrow we will find a place to bury them and you can say a few words." She doesn't say anything, but as she silently cries into my shoulder I feel her nod yes. I knew right then holding this sweet, funny, and brave girl that I will always be here for her.
