I feel my heart break for Sunnie having to say good bye to her family. I Never knew my parents, I bounced around from foster homes until Tony's family took me in when I was sixteen. I try not to think about the past much, but seeing Sunnie like this is bring up some bad memories.
There is something different about her that I can't put my finger on. I have the need to comfort her, which is not like me at all to want to comfort a girl or show emotions. " Alex, can you cover up their bodies please." said Toby. I don't reply and walk into the room. I pull the sheet up over there heads and say a silent prayer, don't know why I still do it, not like anyone is listening anyways.
When I come out of the room we start cleaning up the living room and place blankets and pillows on the floor that Nick found in a closet. I start pulling out Food and water from my back and place them in front of everyone. we eat and drink in silence. " Why did the sperm cross the road?" said Sunnie. We all just look at her, I can't believe she is able to joke right now. "Why?" said Nick. For Nick to be the one to answer her is saying how much he likes and respects Sunnie. " I wore the wrong socks." said Sunnie. I couldn't help it, I Just laugh until I have tears in my eyes. The others join in with me.
I really like you Sunnie, I think you were what we needed for our little group. She smiles and it takes my breath away, I think it might be the first time I see her truly smile since I met her. " Humor helps the heart heal."said Sunny.
I look around at my friend's and for the first time I see them actually smiling and laughing since this all happened, maybe even before. Sunnie has given us all a little bit of light back in our dark lives.
