After a long pause, I spoke.
“Come away with me Grace. Hawaii, Europe, somewhere, anywhere,” I proposed. “I have more than enough money for us to live on for the rest of our lives.”
“I can’t. I’d never see my family again and the scandal would destroy them. I just can’t do that to them…”

After another long moment of silence Grace stood up and I escorted her out of the hotel room and to her car.
