I read down the list Brooke had given me. It ran to three pages. Since Paulo was invited to dinner tomorrow, he’d agreed to swap shifts with Brooke so she could take the day off to cook, but if she planned to use all of these ingredients, she’d need an entire week.
“If we take a page each, we can pick up our items and then meet at the register. Divide and conquer, right?”
All very well in principle, but if we paid together, then how would I hide the chocolate sauce and whipped cream I planned to buy for Aaron? I’d picked up a pair of cufflinks and a belt in New York, but those gifts weren’t fun. And if he was still alive later, then we were definitely having a whole night’s worth of entertainment.
