CHAPTER TWO
“Bell rings,” Gianna thought to herself, “Finally, it’s lunchtime.” As she walked towards her locker with the blonde-haired girl beside her, they stopped by the blonde girl’s locker to put away her book and grab her purse. “I’m sorry, I didn’t get your name,” Gianna said.
The girl replied, “My name is Deborah, but you can call me Debbie.” Gianna nodded, and they moved to the end of the locker room where Gianna’s locker was. Debbie asked, “Should I help you change lockers?” Gianna nodded, and they went to the person in charge of the locker change. After it was granted, they happily left to get their lunch.
As they stood in line, Gianna was shocked to see so many students. Even at her old school, the population wasn’t this large. Debbie ordered fried chicken and waffles, while Gianna opted for hot spaghetti, chicken, and eggs. Just as Gianna’s order was about to be handed to her, Mira and her gang appeared.
“If you hand over that food to her before serving me, you’re fired,” Mira threatened the chef. The chef immediately dropped the food on the table and asked Mira what she wanted. Gianna stood there, dumbfounded. “Is this really happening?” she thought to herself. She stretched her hand into the glass case and took out her food. Turning to Mira, she said, “As you can see, she wasn’t the one who gave me my food.” Gianna finished talking and walked away with Debbie, leaving Mira and her gang shocked.
As they found a place to sit and eat, Debbie whispered to Gianna, “Tell me about the school and people around here.” Before Debbie could respond, three boys walked into the dining hall, and everyone turned to look at them. “They are so hot,” someone whispered. “Taylor’s Abb’s? OMG, now I know why they were given the gym presidents,” another student said.
Gianna turned to Debbie and asked, “Who are they?” Debbie replied, “They are the kings of this school. They run the school, and you should avoid them. The guy in the middle is Taylor Waters, the hottest one. That’s Mira’s crush, but we all know he doesn’t like her. The one on the right is Grayson Smith, and the one on the left is Alaric Thorne. They are children of the wealthiest tycoons in the country. Taylor’s dad practically owns the school and sponsors everything here.”
Gianna’s eyes widened as she listened. She looked back, and Mira was already clinging to Taylor, who was trying to order his food. They ordered and walked to get a table, and Gianna focused on her food, enjoying the delicious spaghetti.
As she ate, she felt someone watching her and looked up to see Mira glaring at her. Taylor glanced up, and their eyes met briefly. Gianna wouldn’t lie; he was handsome, but that wasn’t why she was there. She focused on her food and continued talking with Debbie until they finished lunch and returned to class.
Mira walked into the class with her crew, and Gianna was surprised. Debbie whispered, “I forgot to tell you; Mira and her crew are in our class, but Taylor and the guys are our seniors.” They walked to the empty seats on the left-hand side of the class and sat down.
Suddenly, Mira stood up and walked to Gianna’s seat, telling her to stand up and move so that she and her crew could sit down. Gianna refused, and the other girls sitting nearby stood up and left, but Gianna and Debbie stayed put. Mira started insulting them, telling them to stand up and leave because she wanted to sit down. Knowing a teacher would soon arrive, Gianna and Debbie gently stood up and left the seat for Mira.
As the teacher entered the class and started teaching, Gianna tried to focus. After three classes, the dismissal bell rang, and Gianna stood up to pack her books and head to the locker room. She and Debbie walked side by side, and Gianna asked Debbie why she didn’t have friends. Debbie replied that she had just transferred to the school last month and didn’t want any problems, so she kept her distance from everyone.
As they walked to the locker room, Gianna was surprised to find that everything had been arranged inside her new locker. Debbie explained that it was normal for the school to transfer her stuff after she applied for a locker change. They walked out of the school, and Debbie’s driver was waiting. Debbie told Gianna that she wanted to give her a ride to the bus stop, but her driver informed her that her dad wanted to see her at the company. Debbie nodded and told Gianna it was okay for her to walk to the bus stop; it was just a five mins walk from here, and she nodded entering the car. They zoomed off, and I walked to the bus stop, waiting for my bus. Luckily, it arrived in less than two minutes. I paid and entered, and we were on our way home. It took 15 minutes to get to the junction leading to my house, and I got down, walking to the house. I opened the door and said slowly but firmly, “I’m home.” My mom came out of the kitchen and hugged me. I greeted her and told her I could perceive the aroma of the food from far away. She laughed and told me to clean up and come down; it was already 4:30 pm, and she knew Dad would soon be back.
I entered my room, which was not too big but not small either, decorated with a brown and white interior. The bed was a normal girly size, not a king-sized bed like Mom and Dad’s. The wardrobe was big enough for my clothes, and the room had two windows. There was a dressing table and mirror in the corner where I kept my watches, makeup, jewelry, and so on. I had a small basket where I put my dirty clothes. I quickly put myself in order and came downstairs.
