"Here's some news for you." He smirked. "Gerard is dead. His name is Ivy Thorne now. He doesn't even know who you are anymore." His claws grabbed my neck in a grip. "As far as he's concerned... Oceana is dead. You'll never see him again. He's forgotten you completely. He doesn't remember Jessie here and your pack. The only thing he remembers is the blood your father spilled across my homeland."
His voice grew colder.
"And he's going to take revenge for everything you did to him. You killed him and threw him off a cliff. He'll do exactly the same to you."
"No!" I cried. "I would never do that to him! I never pushed Gerard off a cliff! What are you talking about? He's my mate! Everyone knows how much we loved each other. Why would I ever kill him?"
Amoux snapped his fingers in front of my face, releasing my neck.
"Then explain it, Oceana Daciana."
“What!” I muttered.
"Your father slaughtered my people. And I refuse to stand by while you take away what's left of them."
His eyes glowed with hatred.
"Prepare yourself for war, Oceana. I'll find the Wolf Stone. And when I do…I'll wipe out you and your entire family."
"You said... he doesn't remember me."
I swallowed hard.
"Or... does he simply not want to see me?"
Tears blurred my vision.
"Please... let me see him."
"I have so much I need to tell him. I beg you. Please let me see my mate."
"It won't happen," Amoux said coldly. "Stay the f**k away from him. I won't let my brother die a second time. He's suffered enough because of your family... and because of your cursed luck."
He stared directly into my eyes.
"Know one thing, Oceana, he's preparing to start a war and wipe out your entire family. If I were you, I'd come clean to the world about what your family did to Gerard. Oh, sorry, I mean Ivy."
He was about to leave when I stopped him.
"One year!" I shouted.
He turned around with the most terrifying look I had ever seen, sending chills down my spine.
"Give me one year to prove that I'm innocent of everything you're accusing me of. If I have to earn Gerard's forgiveness, I'm willing to get down on my knees and beg him."
"Getting on your knees won't satisfy me. I hate your family too much..."
"I know," I interrupted. "You said earlier that Gerard has forgotten me. Why?"
This is my only chance.
He smirked. "I thought you wanted to beg him for yourself."
"Please, let me see Gerard. I promise I'll do everything I said and make him remember me."
"And if it doesn't work? What will you do then?"
"I'll do whatever you ask me to..."
"Oceana," Carmine called.
"This is my only chance, Carmine," I cried. "Please let me handle this. Don't interfere."
~ Ivy's Pov ~
I tossed the ball to Damon, who caught it and threw it back to me with a laugh. He suddenly stopped when we both noticed someone approaching.
It was Amoux... along with that strange woman who had mistaken me for another Alpha the other day.
"Amoux." I stood up and walked over to them, finding the expressions on both their faces rather amusing.
"Hi, Ivy."
"What is it, Amoux? And why is she here?" I asked.
"I signed a business contract with Garold Boris regarding our companies and stocks. He's leaving on a trip and wants his wife to stay with us for a while because she's having problems with his family."
"Wow. How long is she staying?" I frowned, looking the snow-white-haired woman up and down.
Who exactly was she?
"Just a couple of months."
"Have you informed everyone in the family that she'll be staying here?" I asked.
"That's what I'm about to do now."
"Couldn't you just book her a hotel or arrange somewhere else for her to stay instead of bringing her here?"
"No. It's too dangerous out there. Garold has enemies."
"Oh, really?" I narrowed my eyes on her. "She seems suspicious. What's your name again?"
Something about this didn't sit right with me. Since when did Amoux become so close to this woman? Why was she here, and what was her motive? Everything about this felt too sudden.
"Oceana," she answered nervously. "My name is Oceana Daciana."
"So that's your name," I murmured.
Why did hearing her name make me strangely happy? It sounded so familiar, as though I'd heard it somewhere before.
Yet, at the same time, simply looking at her filled me with anger.
Why were my emotions reacting so strongly just because of her?
"Yes," she replied with a smile.
Why is she smiling?
"She can't stay here. I forbid it!"
We all turned toward the staircase as my mother descended in her elegant gown, her long white hair flowing behind her while she glared furiously at Oceana.
"Mother, calm down," Amoux said.
"No! She is not staying here!" my mother shouted.
The commotion drew everyone out of their rooms.
"What's going on?" they all asked at once.
"This witch almost killed my son! She's from the Mackenzie Clan!" my mother screamed, her red eyes fixed on Oceana.
Everyone gasped in shock. I laughed.
So she was the one who once wanted me dead. How amusing. I'd heard stories about how she and her family mistreated me and held me captive.
This was becoming interesting.
"You're Princess Oceana, aren't you?" I mocked.
"Yes, I am," she replied, though I could hear the nervousness in her voice.
"You've got some nerve coming here," my mother shouted as she marched toward her.
"I can't believe you're such a snake," I chuckled.
"Don't you remember me?" she asked.
"Excuse me?" I laughed.
"Look at this b***h," one of my sisters scoffed as she stepped closer to Oceana.
"Gerard..." she whispered, tears filling her eyes.
Who is this woman standing before me? How dare she?
"Don't call me by that name. I don't know you. All I know is that you're a cursed b***h from the Mackenzie Clan who destroyed my family. I don't know you. Get out."
Her eyes widened in shock.
I stepped closer. "You're not welcome in the Dragon Pack. We don't want the likes of you anywhere near us."
"No... please. I don't understand what you're talking about. How did I end up here..."
I slapped her across the face and shoved her to the ground, where she landed hard on her backside.
Everyone burst into laughter.
"I've heard so much about you, how spoiled and disgusting you are. Yet you still had the audacity to come here and stand before me as though nothing happened."
"I don't know what you're talking about..."
