Jonah woke up confused. How the hell did he get to sleep in the first place? He was a soldier. A guard. And what the hell was he laying on? No, not what. Who. He opened his eyes wide enough to make out the smooth skin of a woman’s thigh. He felt fingers tangled in his hair. When he caught a whiff of lavender, he knew exactly who he had been asleep on. Eva. He didn’t move. He didn’t want to move. Jonah recalled the dreams of his grandmother. His best memories had shot to the forefront of his mind as he slept. Jonah shifted off of Eva and examined her.
