That Ain’t No Marcus
“BODEE, I’M SO happy you found yourself a nice girl. I like her name, Nellie. Sounds real friendly, but don’t bring her over yet because I don’t want her being frightened of the neighborhood. We’ll figure out some other way for me to meet her.”
“You’ll like her, she’s special.”
“I’m sure I will, but you got a lot going on right now—may not be the best time for a romance. You still don’t understand everything you need to about me and Akua, so we’re expecting a visitor in a few minutes who’ll explain some more. We’ll talk at the kitchen table, not downstairs, because he more like family.”
“Family? I thought it only the three of us?”
“His name is Marcus and he’ll come upstairs on his own. Sit at the table.”
Bodee heard footsteps coming up the staircase.
