Chapter 20 Nellie BODEE ARRIVED AT the agreed-upon location in Tompkins Square fifteen minutes before Nellie and began to unwrap one of the sandwiches he made back at home. She carried the blanket, napkins, and some drinks in a basket. “Been a long time since I seen you, Bodee Rivers.” “A whole forty-eight hours.” “You find out where Tangiers is yet?” “Nah, I’m not going to do your job.” “How you figure? You come walkin’ up to me slapping yourself in the face, talkin’ about Spanish marines, and askin’ me about some silly place called Tangiers. How this my job?” “First of all, I didn’t say Spanish marines. Not so sure they exist, and I only hit my head because when you smiled, you flashed the whitest teeth I ever seen in my life. Blinded me, I tell you! I slapped myself to see again
