Homecoming
“OKAY, BODEE. TAKE your time. The doc said your legs and arms might keep cramping up for a while. Let’s wait under the tree for the afternoon ferry; sorry you were too weak to leave in the morning. You’ll be home for dinner.”
“Yeah, I feel better, but let’s sit. Good idea, Duane, I’m still a little tired.”
The crew of the small transport secured a line to the dock and exchanged some words with the doctor, who came down for Bodee’s departure.
“Bodee, it was my honor to treat you. You are a true hero in every way. Your friend told me you don’t want to say too much about what you did, but I heard firsthand, and you’re the definition of courage and bravery. I did take the liberty of letting the captain here understand what you did. Take care of yourself.”
