Young Love

Prologue

“I Like You!” I said as I gave the chocolate that I made in our class earlier. “Please go out with me!” I said and then I immediately close my eyes.

He chuckled so I open my eyes and saw his face so close to mine. I step back a little as I felt my cheeks became warm. He gets the chocolate in my hand and smile.

“Sure. Are you free this weekend? Let’s have our first date.” He said with a bright smile. Still shocked, I unconsciously answer his question with a nod.

Months later, we got really close. He always waits for me at the gate of the school and accompanies me when I go home. We also go on a date during weekends. We became comfortable with each other. He always give me gifts and he even hold a monthly celebration for the two of us whenever the exact day when I confessed to him came. I’ve never met his parents since they are always busy. According to him, his mother is in another country, while his father is busy with work which is why he seldom goes home. I only met his cousin and his little brother, just like him, they are very kind and fun to be with. He also had an older sister but she’s with his mom living in another country. Being with him makes me happy, motivated, and he makes me feel like I’m his most precious person as I am to him.

Several months had passed and its exactly been a year since the day that I confessed to him. I decided to pay him a visit in his place in order to surprise him since he always makes surprises for me. I bought a cake, and my gift for him, which is the watch that he saw when we were shopping the other day.  I happily ring the doorbell and wait. I heard a footstep coming towards the door so I gave a big smile but to my surprise, someone familiar opened the door, so I look at him questioningly.

“Hey!” his little brother greeted

“Where is he?” I asked. He avoided my eyes which makes me curious and somehow nervous. “What happened?” I asked in a very soft tone, ‘I’m having a bad feeling’ I thought to myself.

I let myself in, every step that I take becomes heavier as I walk towards his room.  I stopped and took a deep breath when I reached the doorstep of his room.  As soon as I open the door, the heavy feeling that I’ve felt while walking burst out as I saw a girl kissing him. He stops and look towards me, my tears won’t stop falling but it is not blurry enough to refrain me from seeing his eyes, and it was enough to break my heart. Instead of seeing a deer caught in headlights, I saw his bored expression as if everything was planned ahead, and the result was as expected.

I give my best smile and walk towards them, I took a deep breath, “It’s for you, thank you-“ my voice c***k, “thank you for everything. I was so naïve to think that there is something between us. I’m sorry.” I put the cake and my gift for him on the side table, I looked at him for the last time and gave him my best smile. “Goodbye.” I said and walked away.

I walked out his room and it seems like his brother is waiting for me outside. He’s looking down so I just pat his head, then he looks at me. I gave him a weak smile and hug him.

“Take good care of yourself. Don’t forget that I love you so much and I’m happy to get to know what it feels like to have a little brother.” I said and he nodded. “I’ll see you again sometime.” I smile for the last time and let go.

I went home and fixed my things. After packing everything that I need, I made a phone call. “Hey bro? Is your request still open?” I asked. “I’ll pick you up.” He said and end the call.

Years later

Looking at the sky while smiling like a fool. “How are you?” I thought to myself. “Time sure fly so fast, It’s been 5 years since I last saw you.” I chuckled then sighed deeply. “I still love you, even though you caused me too much pain. However, I can’t still help but to continue loving you.” I closed my eyes and faintly smile. “How I wish that our path would cross once again. So that I would be able to close our chapter and start something anew.” I whispered.

“Faye! Sorry I’m late. Let’s go?” my friend said while panting. I pulled her to sit beside me.

“First, sit and relax. We still have time. I can just talk to them if ever we arrive late” I said and smile.

“That’s why everyone loves you, you’re so kind and lovable.” She said and hugged me.

After several minutes, we decided to go.

We notice a bunch of people gathering at the shore so we decided to go and see what is happening. We saw an ambulance and some police, which boost our curiosity, so we decided to move closer. However, to our dismay, the scene is quite far so my friend decided to ask some people. I take a look around and analyze what is happening, as I look around, I saw a familiar figure in front of the nurses who looks like they are checking him. I’m about to walk towards the scene when someone pulled me and when I looked, it’s my friend. She told me that a certain person found a man lying in the seashore so he called an ambulance and the police since he’s not sure if the man is still alive. And when the ambulance arrived, the man regains his consciousness. After explaining, she pulled me away from the scene, and said that it’s not that interesting and we should just leave it be.

While we’re walking away, I can’t help myself but to look back. And as we continue walking, I fixed my gaze towards the ambulance car. It feels like my heart stopped for a moment as I look at the man. The pain from the past lingered inside me, but instead of getting mad and walk away, my body move on its own and walk towards him. As soon as I’m in front of that person, the tears in my eyes fell. “Kiel” I called out. He looked at me in question. “Kiel? Me? Is that my name.” He said in confusion and I froze.
