I felt terrible when I returned to the pack. After living in my wolf form for so long it felt weird being back in my human skin. I missed my fur. I couldn't believe that my father had died. He was only in his forties. I searched through the grounds for anyone who could explain to me what was going on. I was walking around naked until I found a blanket that someone had left in the grass and I wrapped it around my body like a towel. I heard the yelling and fighting before I actually saw it. My mother was battling a man? What the hell is going on around here! I unleashed my alpha ora and everyone stopped in their tracks. I felt the mate bond again.
That's' weird. I could have sworn that we rejected our mate.
My wolf agreed and we growled.
"What the hell is going on here! Someone had better explain to me why I return to my father being dead and my mother fighting, as it seems, for her life!"
A woman stood before me, looking at the ground,
"Alpa, this man killed your father. He challenged him to a fight for the alpha position and won. Your mother, our luna, decided that she didn't want that and challenged him to a fight for the position."
When she finished talking she went back to her knees.
"As of now, I am the Alpha of this pack. If you wish to fight for the position, you must kill me, not my mother."
I challenged him. He nodded in agreement.
"As you wish. I challenge you for your alpha position over the Ocean Moon Clan."
When I grinned I could practically taste the malice on my tongue. I dropped the blanket off my body and walked forwards. I knew people were not only staring because of my nudity, but because of the scars.
Living in the forest in wolf form had advantages as well as disadvantages. I was attacked often when I couldn't release my alpha ora.
My stomach, chest, neck, and legs were covered in deep scars.
I shifted into my wolf form within seconds and paced around him, growling and daring him to do the same.
He shifted as quick as I had and we circled one another, growling and snapping teeth before he had the nerve to attack.
I dodged him easily and jumped onto his back, biting into his neck while I pushed him to the ground. I wasn't aiming to kill only to make him submit. After drawing a little blood, he whimpered and tapped his paw in the dirt.
We shifted and someone handed me their jacket and handed him some pants. He grinned at me.
"I am glad you are a strong Alpha. But I do have a question for you."
I nodded, "Then ask it."
"Do you not realize that I am your mate?" He looked at me with this brow furrowed and his head tilted to the side."
I shook my head laughing, "I rejected my mate one year ago today when he ran my best friend through with his sword before my eyes."
He shook his head, "That was my brother. My twin brother. Look inside, I can promise you that you are my mate if you just look."
I was about to scoff and laugh in his face again when I realized that my wolf had been screaming in my head.
What is it, Koda?
THAT IS OUR MATE YOU MORON! WE HAD MORE THAN ONE, WE JUST REJECTED THE BROTHER!!
I concentrated and realized that they were both right, he was my mate. How is this possible? I thought that we only had one mate.
"I recognize your claim....?" I looked at him waiting for his name.
"My name is Adrian Drew Conri. I Adrian Drew Conri Alpha of the Desert Moon Clan, recognize you,-
"Kyra Morgan Raven." he nodded,
"Kyra Morgan Raven as my true mate." he looked at me expectantly and I sighed.
"I recognize your claim, Adrain Drew Conri, and accept you as my true mate."
I felt in my heart as our bond grew a little stronger. My heartfelt like a small piece had been restored. But where do I go from here?
______________________________________One week later______________________________
I was finally okay. We buried my father and I visited Jacobs' grave. I sat and talked to him for a few hours until the sky had finally gone black. I lay on my back, still beside Jacobs' grave, with my hands on my stomach looking up at the stars. I don't remember falling asleep there because when I woke up I was in my bed. I hadn't opened my eyes yet, but I could tell I wasn't alone. I could smell Sandalwood and saltwater like I was on the beach. I could hear someone snoring softly behind me and I could feel an arm wrapped around my stomach. I stiffened when the body next to me moved. I rolled over quickly, pining the intruder to the bed, growling. Before I could speak, they had me pinned under them.
"Release me!" I snarled.
The person, a man I assumed by the weight, smell, and the tenor of his voice, laughed.
"Why would I do that my little mate?"
I relaxed slightly and sighed,
"I swear on the moon goddess Adrian, the next time you startle me like that, I will rip your throat out with my teeth."
He released my arms and laughed, rolling onto his back, laughing at me.
"Okay, what the hell is so funny?" I was kinda pissed off and I wasn't exactly sure why, but I know I was.
"You say that I startled you, but from the time you realized you weren't asleep outside anymore, your heartbeat was racing and you were assessing my movements. It was like you thought that I was some kind of p*****t or something." He said still laughing.
I slapped him on his chest and laughed. I rolled over so that I could look at his face. He was so handsome. Black hair, ocean blue eyes, tan skin, muscles for days. I hadn't realized that I was running my hand across his chest until he cleared his throat. I felt my face turn red.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to-" I stopped myself right there and rolled over to the other side of the bed facing away from him to hide my embarrassment.
He grabbed my shoulder and flipped me onto my back, "I never said you had to stop." he said grinning and leaned forwards, placing a kiss on my lips.
