Kyra POV
Ethan held his arm out for me to take and I scoffed at him, walking to the door. When I got outside, a man was waiting by an SUV with the door opened.
"Good evening, Alpha Kyra," he said, bowing his head in respect.
I sat in the car and waited for Ethan and Adrian. When they finally followed me out, Adrian sat in the front seat, leaving me at the mercy of Ethan.
"You look good, Kyra," Ethan said, giving me an appreciative up and down look.
I rolled my eyes, "Thank you, Ethan."
He put his hand on his heart in mock shock, "I think that is the first nice thing you have ever said to me, Love."
"Well, don't get used to it. Seriously, don't." I said, I could practically taste the sarcasm from my words.
We drove in silence until we were a few minutes from our destination.
"Kyra, I want to make a proposition, so just hear me out before you speak," I nodded hesitantly and he continued, "If you can break the curse put on my brother and I, I will consider rejecting you and letting you live your life and run your pack in peace. I know that you hate me and my brother and want nothing to do with either of us, so if you can find our cure, I will let you go. For good this time." He spoke confidently, but I could see a hint of fear and sadness in his eyes for a half-second before it was gone.
"Alright, but I need to know who cursed you," I said, and he shook his head smiling sadly,
"That won't make much of a difference. Unless you have a direct line to the one and only Moon Goddess. It was her that cursed us at birth. Our parents both rejected their mates and married even though they were warned against it by the Goddess. When my mother found out she was pregnant, my father locked her in the bunker, trying to hide her and us from the Goddess. He had several witches put protection and consealing spells on it, but it didn't matter. She found us after our birth and cursed us. We weren't told how to break it, but there has to be a way. And if you find it, I will make good on our bargain. You will be free of us." He gave me a sad smile and the car stopped.
"Alphas' we are here." The driver addressed us, respectfully.
Adrian got out of the car first opening my door. Ethan met me on the other side and I held both of their arms, for impressions sake, and we walked in. The venue was an extremely nice Five Star Hotel. There was a red carpet leading to the conference room. Right before the doors opened, the lights went out. There was a moment of shock and then something hit the back of my head.
I fell to the floor and I was vaguely aware of Aidren yelling my name and Ethan cussing.
Then I succumbed to the darkness.
