Nicole's POV
The next morning when I woke up, I didn't expect to find myself in Xavier's room. A part of me had expectations of being thrown out in the middle of the night. I tapped the other side of the bed just to see that he wasn't on the bed anymore.
“What if he didn't even sleep here?” I asked myself. My eyes were still hesitating to open until I heard a loud scream and noise breaking into the room. My eyes flew open, only for me to find Camille charging at me like a bull on a war ground.
“You b***h!” She screamed with her face red with fury. I thought I was fast enough, but clearly I wasn't because in the next few seconds, she had my hair in her hands and was dragging and pulling me by it while I screamed in pain.
“How dare you trick me, huh? How dare you try to take my man away from me, you f*****g i***t?!” She screamed loudly. My hair hurt my scalp, and all I could do was wince in pain.
“Camille, stop…please…” I tried to beg her. Fear spread through my body, but I wasn't going to let her see that.
“Camille? You now call me Camille? It's no longer "ma'am" to you because you tricked me and got married to my man?" She continued dragging and twisting my hair like a maniac.
“I promise you I'm going to make you pay for what you did. I'll make you regret it.” She blew hot. Every part of her face was red and swollen; her arms and legs had mosquito bite marks, definitely from the storeroom I locked her in before the ceremony.
“How could you do this to me? I gave you a roof over your head when your wretched family was dying.” She screamed and pulled my hair even harder.
“You did nothing for me, Camille. You made my life miserable, and I hate you for it.” I spat back in anger.
She was not the only one good at confessing feelings.
I heard some guards rushing outside the door, but they didn't come in. I prayed desperately for a miracle because, as it was, Camille was ready to pull my head out of my neck.
“Camille.” I suddenly heard his voice and froze. He must've walked into the room while she was screaming like a madwoman.
She immediately dropped my hair and ran to him. I felt instant relief in my head and almost plopped back on the bed, but I turned to look at them instead.
She was in his arms, crying and wailing while he patted her back unconsciously with his gaze running over me.
“I'm going to kill her.” I heard Camille say in between her tears.
“Camile, it's fine. Let me handle this.” He started, still glaring at me. I turned my eyes to avoid his eyes because I couldn't bear to see the disgust in them as he looked at me.
“You messed with the wrong person.” He added slowly without taking his eyes off me. I started pulling my fingers nervously because something told me I wouldn't like his next line of action.
“I did what I had to do,” I muttered defiantly under my breath. Camille turned to me with widened eyes that almost popped out of their sockets.
Her eyes were filled with nothing but hatred for me; she bit her lips, and in the flash of an eye, she was charging towards me again like a wild animal.
“I swear I'm going to kill you.” She yelled, and I ran to hide behind Xavier. Of anything, I was more willing to die by Xavier's sword than Camille's.
“Get back here, loser. I promise I'll make your life a living hell.” She screamed at the top of her voice.
I shuddered in fear, knowing that she meant every word. Camille painted hard as balls of sweat trickled down her face.
The beautiful hair she had made before the ceremony was a complete mess. Her eyes were red, baggy, and puffy. Her entire appearance made it seem like she was knocked out for one week and not one night.
“Camille.” Xavier finally stepped in. He stretched his hand to her. She shot glares at me before stepping into his hold.
“Let me take care of this.” He offered. I pursed my lips, waiting for his judgment.
“Guards!” He suddenly called out, and two guards ran in almost immediately. My eyes dilated in fear as he turned to me. Camille, on the other hand, had a smirk on. She hugged him tighter and sniffed back crocodile tears.
“Take her to the dungeon. Do not give her food or water until I change my mind.” He ordered with a cold voice.
Camille's countenance changed almost immediately, as if she were shocked.
“Is that all you're going to do to her for ruining our big day?” She yelled at him. His eyes went from staring at me with hatred to staring at Camille with disgust.
“Listen to me, Camille. I am not interested in this drama; I have a long day ahead, and I want us to get this over with. I'll come up with a befitting punishment for her later.” He tried to pacify her, but she wasn't having it.
“Fine, if you won't punish her the way I want, I'll do it myself.” She spat at him and turned to the guards with total defiance.
“Take her to my father's house. Throw her in the dungeon and tell them to get her ready for execution.” She ordered, and my knees wobbled.
Xavier snatched her angrily with anger in his eyes.
“What are you doing?” Camille asked, shocked to her bones.
“She's not your slave anymore, Camille. She's my mate now, and I decide whatever happens to her.” He threw his face across to the guards.
“Take her away.” He ordered, and without any notice, they dragged me out of the room.
“Xavier, what has come over you?” I heard Camille say as the guards pushed me out of the room.
Looks like there's trouble in paradise
