The Second Rejection

1156 Words
Back to the party... Or should we call it what it had become? A chaos party. The celebration was gone. The music was gone. The laughter was gone. Only fear remained. T.L hovered in the air, surrounded by immense white energy. Cracks spread across the walls. The ceiling groaned. Windows exploded outward. People were screaming everywhere. Outside, neighboring buildings were beginning to crack as well. Car alarms blared. People ran into the streets. Some pointed at the party hall in terror. Inside, Madam Seraphine could barely believe what she was seeing. "Oh my God..." Her hands trembled. "A Full Total..." Immediately she pulled out her communicator. "Come on... come on..." The line connected. "Report," a voice said. Madam Seraphine almost shouted. "I know what Total she is!" "What?" "She's a Full Total!" Silence. Even the voice on the other side seemed stunned. Then Seraphine continued. "And this place is going into Full Total burnout!" The voice immediately became serious. "Sending backup." "Contain her." The call ended. Seraphine stared at the communicator. "Contain her?" She looked at T.L. The room was literally falling apart. "Contain her?" "How am I supposed to contain THIS?!" Another explosion shook the building. BOOM! Everyone screamed. The floor jumped beneath their feet. Meanwhile Sophie forced herself closer. "T.L!" The white energy whipped around her. "T.L, I know you can hear me!" Bianca nodded. "We're your friends!" "You need to stop!" "We're at a party!" "There are normal people here!" Gabriel stepped forward. "T.L!" Guen looked terrified. "Please!" Sophie swallowed. "You don't want to hurt us..." "Do you?" For a moment— Everything paused. The white whirlwind weakened. The energy flickered. Then suddenly— THUD! T.L dropped from the air. The white glow disappeared. Her hair returned to normal. Her eyes returned to normal. The room became silent. Everyone stared. "T.L!" Sophie and the others rushed to her. Madam Seraphine sighed in relief. "Thank goodness..." Far across the room, hidden among the chaos, stood the BLACKCLAW man. Still holding the Sixth Division LATOT book. His eyes were fixed on T.L. "Incredible..." T.L slowly sat up. She looked around. Broken walls. Collapsed decorations. Injured guests. Destroyed furniture. Her face fell. "What a mess..." Sophie grabbed her shoulders. "It was you!" T.L looked up. "You have powers!" "You were flying!" "There was white energy everywhere!" Gabriel nodded. "The whole building was shaking!" Guen added, "I've never seen anything like that." T.L lowered her eyes. "Yeah..." Her voice shook. "I remember." Everyone stared. T.L swallowed. "I remember all of it." The room became quiet. T.L continued. "It felt like..." She struggled for words. "Something else took control." She looked at her hands. "Something that is part of me." She laughed nervously. "I sound crazy." "No, you don't," Sophie said immediately. Before anyone could say more— WHOOSH! The Sixth Division LATOT book suddenly flew out of the BLACKCLAW man's hands. "What?!" The man stumbled backward. The book shot across the room. Straight toward T.L. Everyone watched in shock. The book landed in her hands. At the same moment— A second book appeared in midair. Out of nowhere. LATOT SEVENTH DIVISION "What is happening?!" Bianca shouted. The Seventh Division book floated toward T.L. Then gently touched her forehead. FLASH! A burst of white light filled the room. Both books dropped to the floor. THUD. THUD. Sophie stepped backward. "What was that?" T.L suddenly grabbed her head. "Agh!" She staggered. Then dropped to one knee. Madam Seraphine immediately rushed forward. "Everyone back up!" "Now!" The others obeyed. Even the BLACKCLAW man moved farther away. Though his eagle-like eyes never left T.L. Then— Silence. Complete silence. T.L lowered her head. Nothing moved. Nothing breathed. Nothing made a sound. Then— A single white spark appeared. CRACK. Another. CRACK. Another. CRACK. T.L slowly lifted her head. Her hair turned white again. But this time— Not white. Burning white. Electric white. Like living flames. Her eye lenses became pure white. White flares flickered across her face. Her Tribrid marks glowed brilliantly. Electric currents danced around them. Then— The crown mark on the upper right side of her back ignited. Brighter than ever. And then— BOOOOOOOOM!!! A massive explosion of white energy erupted outward. Madam Seraphine reacted instantly. Purple energy exploded around her. She teleported dozens of guests away. But she wasn't fast enough. Not for everyone. Not for the ones closest. Sophie. Bianca. Gabriel. Guen. Nonke. They were too near. The blast hit them directly. CRASH! Bodies flew through the room. Walls shattered. Furniture exploded. Glass rained everywhere. The shockwave continued beyond the building. Across streets. Across blocks. Across neighboring structures. Buildings cracked apart. Windows shattered. Entire walls collapsed. When the energy finally faded— Silence returned. T.L stood alone. Breathing heavily. Normal again. The white hair was gone. The glowing marks had vanished. Then she looked around. And saw them. Her friends. On the ground. Bruised. Bleeding. Broken. "Sophie!" T.L ran forward. Sophie wasn't moving. Blood ran down her forehead. "Oh my God..." T.L fell beside her. "Sophie..." She reached out. But suddenly— SLAP! Nonke knocked her hand away. T.L froze. Nonke stood up. Bruised. Angry. His eyes filled with pain. "Don't touch her." T.L stared. "What?" "Don't touch her!" His voice echoed through the ruined hall. T.L looked hurt. "Nonke..." He pointed at the destruction. "You." "You did this." T.L shook her head. "I didn't mean—" "Look around!" Nonke shouted. "You're chaos!" His voice cracked. "You came into our lives!" "You came into our home!" "And now look what happened!" T.L looked completely stunned. "Is..." She struggled to speak. "Is that what you think?" Tears began forming. "That I knew I had these powers?" "That I came here to destroy your family?" Gabriel slowly stood up. His arm was bleeding. "It doesn't matter." T.L looked at him. Gabriel looked away. "Just stay away from us." His voice was cold. "We don't want to see you again." "Before you hurt us." T.L looked devastated. "I would never hurt you." "You guys are family." Bianca shook her head. "No." T.L froze. Bianca's eyes were wet with tears. "No, T.L." "You're not family." The words hit harder than any power ever could. Bianca looked away. "You were just a girl that needed help." "We felt sorry for you." "And we let you in." T.L's heart shattered. Nobody spoke. Nobody moved. Slowly... T.L stood up. The room felt empty. Cold. She looked at each of them. Nonke. Gabriel. Bianca. Guen. The unconscious Sophie. Then she nodded slowly. As if accepting something. Without another word— She walked away. Across the ruined hall. Past the broken walls. Past the shattered furniture. To the farthest corner she could find. There she sat down. Alone. Wrapping her arms around her knees. While behind her... The people she had begun to call family refused to look at her. And for the second time in her life... T.L felt rejected.
