Asher Point of View

The first thing I notice about her is her hair, cut short and it falls over her face. Darlyn Ravenwood is back.

I glance at the screen, remembering I am in a virtual meeting with the board of directors.

"Since we have come to a decision, I expect actions that match it. Have a nice day." I say, ending the call, feeling self conscious that Darlyn is here, and from the looks on her face, she wasn't aware of my new position.

"Dahlia." I say, frowning at the mischievous grin on her face, that minx.

"Alpha." She smiles, bowing her head subtly, but not before giving me the finger.

"Darlyn," I say, licking my lips, unsure of what to say.

"It's Dr. Scarlette Ravenwood, Alpha." She says, and and bows subtly, reminding me of all the ways I am royally f****d.

"Well, I should leave." Dahlia says, and I stiffen, because leaving me alone in a room with Darlyn is not a good decision, not when she looks like this.

"Yes, you should." Darlyn says, to my surprise, I would think she'll take every chance to run from me.

There's silence for a while, and it is uncomfortable.

"A Doctor?" I say, leaning on the wall.

"An Alpha?" She states with a tilt of her head, making me see her slender neck, knowing fully well it'll fit in my hands.

"I came here with the intention to see Luca, I thought he was still the Alpha, there's something he needs to know." She says, and I am on alert.

"I became the Alpha five years ago, I assure you, you can tell me what needs to be told."

"I don't want to. I assume Luca still lives down the street with Rina, I shall pay them a visit. Enjoy your throne, Alpha." She says, and turns to walk away from me, but I reach out and grab her arm.

"Take your hands off me, Alpha. I seem to recall a line being drawn in my tears, let's not cross it." She says, coldly, and I drop her hands, feeling a burning sensation in my heart.

I broke her heart, humiliated her, so she has all the rights to hate me.

"I am the Alpha, and if my Pack is in any form of danger, I should know." I say, matching her tone.

"I see. I'll meet you there then." She says, and starts to walk away.

"We should go together, to save time." I say, grabbing my car keys.

"I don't particularly want to be in the same space as you, Alpha." She says, and I jolt in shock at her bluntness, then grin because her fierceness is something I love.

"Well, it sucks to be you then." I say, and head out, knowing she'll follow me.

"Asher Kane and Darlyn Ravenwood in my house together, color me shocked." Luca grins as we get seated in his Living Room.

"Alpha Asher Kane and Doctor Darlyn Ravenwood." Rina corrects and Darlyn blushes, I still can't believe she is a Doctor.

"I am not yet a Doctor, in two years, I will be. I'm having my residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago." She says, and I look at her, because how can I even look away.

"Where did you get your Bsc?" Luca asked, and I could kiss the ground he walked on. For ten years, I have had no information on Darlyn, been kept in the dark, now, I am soaking up all the information.

"I got a scholarship to study at Brown for four years, then got half scholarship to go to Medical School in Chicago, at Rush University. I do love Chicago, so I decided to have my Residency there."

"Wow, that's so impressive, but I shouldn't be surprised, you are a daughter of this Pack afterall." Luca says.

"You live alone?" Rina asks, and I perk up.

"Yes, I have an Apartment at Gold Coast which is a few minutes away from the Hospital."

"No boyfriends?" She winks, and Darlyn blushes, making me frown, and hope my relief doesn't show on my face.

"Isn't that perfect, Asher is also single." Luca says, and I choke on air.

"I am here for something different, important." She says, thankfully ignoring Luca's comment.

"On the flight here, I met a man, Constantine, he seemed familiar, but I have never seen him before. He said he was coming for you, Luca, that his father knew you, and he is here to pass across a message. I told him you were friends of my Family, and he said we will see him soon."

Luca and Rina are frozen, making me tense.

"Constantine Mendez." Luca finally speaks.

"He had some creepy vibe around him, and I have a feeling he is here to cause trouble." She says, and there's a ringing in my ear.

"Who is he?"

"He is my best friend's son, and I think he is here to kill me, kill all the Werewolves."

I sat up "What did you just say?"

"Calm down, Asher, and listen." Rina says, and I glance at Darlyn.

"A very long time ago, I wasn't born in California, I used to live in New York, and there, I had a friend -- Kaleb. He was my best friend, and I would have died for him, but there was only one thing wrong, he was human." Luca says.

"We were both in our early twenties, young and foolish. I did some things I am not proud of, made mistakes, broke promises, hurt so many people, and Rina was my saving grace through it all. Kaleb experimented a lot, there was something deeply broken in him, and unlike me, he didn't find a woman like Rina."

"All through this, you have to note that I didn't tell him of my heritage, of who I truly am, but a year or so after I met Rina, I decided to tell him everything, and this was when s**t went sideways. Apparently, Kaleb knew of the existence of the supernatural world, of Werewolves, and he was a descendant of Hunters."

"Hunters are a myth." Darlyn says, and there's a c***k in her voice.

"No, there aren't, you are just lucky that you've never met one. At this point, everything came to light, I was a Werewolf, and he was a Hunter, his sole purpose was to end us. I tried to persuade him to change his mind, but he was too far gone. I warned him that Wolves would come for him, he should run."

"The news of a Hunter has spreaded, and I tried to help him, but he attacked my wife and I, injuring Rina badly, her womb was affected, and that was the end of our dream for a large Family. I was angry, so we left, and came home, to San Francisco. I ignored his calls, and nursed my wife to health, the next thing I heard was that he had been killed."

"Oh my God." Darlyn gasps, and I grit my teeth.

"Kaleb was killed by Wolves, and I am sure his son thinks I killed his Father. If Constantine is here, then he is here for revenge."

I get up, blood boiling, then face Darlyn "You were in the same plane as this psychopath, he could have hurt you!"

"I am fine." She says, but all I see is red.

"I just got you back, and will be damned if I let a Hunter take you away from me!"
