Laura huffed in exasperation. "Reine! I don't have it to run around after 3 girls at once, I'm staying home." She called out after the three who ran towards what seemed to be a farmer's market. Reine didn't, she wouldn't! I can do it myself, she told herself and her younger sisters. Suddenly they bumped against a young lady who helped them up. "Are you children alright? Where are your parents? Are you lost?" She studied their faces curiously. Seeing her shy and silent sisters Reine spoke up, "We're fine thank you, we wanted to come here by ourselves," The lady looked at her with a small frown. "I should think not of that decision, you never know what might happen to three little pretty girls like you in a big crowd," Reine felt a small lump in her throat as she guiltily told the lady how she had been the one to ignore their helplessness. "Well now, you do know your way back don't you?" She asked, Reine nodded. "Such smart little girls, off you go then!" Reine trodded towards where the cottage was, before realizing Karrie was gone! Reine gasped in horror of even more terrible things that could happen to a 4-year old girl in a crowd. Grabbing 6-year old Sarrah's wrist they squirmed through the crowd, before stopping at the petting barn, 5 pennies to go in, but they could pet the horses for free, Karrie loved animals, especially her four legged fast ones. And there she was! Picking dandelions leaves for all mercy. Karrie looked up from where she had been picking some dandelion leaves, a big regal horse stood in front of her. Enchanted, the little girl stuck out her arm to pet him, the horse, seeing love in her eyes bent forwards, but suddenly the bit and head harness choked him hard, his eyes glared at her, as if she had done it. Karrie looked at the horse, its coat shone, glimmering against the sun, its blood bay body rose on its hind legs, the horse screeched, deafeningly mixed with its snorts and stomps. Karrie froze, this wasn't the same majestic creature she had wanted to pet. She wanted to cry but she couldn't just find the power to do it. It was terrifying, but in a split of a second it was breathtaking. Just as the horse was about to fall on her, someone dragged her away from her doom.
"Well now! You children sure have the luck of the horseshoes!" The same lady whom they had met sat on the ground, quiet Karrie stood up and ran towards Sarrah, hugging her tightly. "Oh thank you miss-" "Miss Carey darling, and my, look what pity your dress has been made!" The children looked at their spoiled skirts and petticoats. The petticoats were now an unruly shape. "But we do thank you miss!" Reine interrupted the petticoat watching. Karrie and Sarrah nodded solemnly. Ms Carey glanced quickly at the rearing horse that wildly pranced in its imprisoned state. "Poor horse, let me get the groomer," Ms Carey went into the barnhouse and came back with a large red skinned man who slipped the harness back and slackened the bit on its latch. The horse quieted down a little, looking back in its doleful and peace-loving state.
