“Saki, are you awake?” Teiko said.
“Of course, though I’m about to sleep since I got too excited for today. Why did you asked, Teiko-nii?” Saki said.
“Are you hearing Silica?” Teiko asked.
“Nope, you can hear her?” Saki asked.
“Yeah, somehow?” Teiko said.
“Oh, I know the reason that you can hear her but I couldn’t. I’ll tell you about this tomorrow, let me sleep first, okay?” Saki said.
“Fine, go on. Sleep well, Saki,” Teiko said.
“They’re having a journey to become a hero. Teiko-sama said something about that and there’s something inside me that tells me to be one, too. But will my mom let me go out of the village or will Teiko-sama accept me if I said that I want to join them?” Silica said.
Okay, I can tell that she’s only talking to herself. So this is what Saki feels when I’m talking, but why am I only hearing this now and not earlier. Teiko thought to himself.
“Teiko-sama witnesses how good I am at using a bow, right? But Akeiko said that if I master the Weaving and Tailoring skill, he will surely let me join them,” Silica said.
I see, she really wanted to join, huh? Fine, if she asked me, I’ll let her join immediately since Auntie said that I should let her join. She’s a good addition to our party. Teiko thought.
“Hmm. I can’t get Teiko-sama out of my head! What should I do? But he’s with Akeiko, does he have feelings for her? He’s very handsome and Akeiko can compliment it. Maybe I wouldn’t be able to compete against her,” Silica said.
Wait! Hold up! This is something I shouldn’t be hearing! I have to do something. Ahm, yeah I got it. Teiko thought.
Teiko remembered how he learned how to close his thoughts and do the same method but this time, for closing the thought coming from other people.
Wooooh! I’m a genius, now I won't hear someone’s thoughts again. Teiko thought.
The morning came and Teiko immediately talked with Saki as she woke up.
“So what’s the deal yesterday?” Teiko asked.
“Ohh, Teiko-nii. The deal where you’re hearing Silica’s thoughts, right?” Saki replied.
“Yes, I’m talking about that,” Teiko replied.
“Oh, that means you eavesdropped on some girl’s secret. Anyway, the reason that you could hear her was because she really wanted to talk with you. Her thought was voice out because of that desire,” Saki replied.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t hear too much,” Teiko said.
“Ohh, so you close hearing thoughts from others on your own?” Saki asked.
“Yes, I’m a genius, right?” Teiko asked.
Saki rolled her eyes.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
“Good morning, Teiko and Saki,” Silica said while knocking on the door.
Thank God she’s not calling me like she did in her thought. Teiko thought.
Teiko opened the door and greeted Silica back.
“Good morning, Silica-nee,” Saki said.
“The breakfast is ready! I’m about to wake up Akeiko and my mom, too,” Silica said.
Cecilia came up and heard what Silica had said. She exclaimed, “Wait?! You cook for breakfast?”
“Yes, mother! I don’t want them to wake up with no food on the table,” Silica replied.
Cecilia faced palm and bowed down.
I have a bad feeling about this. Teiko thought.
“Teiko, wait here for a minute. She doesn't excel when it comes to cooking, in fact, she’s a terrible one. I’ll cook,” Cecilia said.
“But mom, I already cooked, I even made ten of it so they could choose what they wanted to eat,” Silica said.
“Auntie, it’s fine. Maybe her cooking is not that bad,” Teiko said.
“I warned you already, I hope nothing bad happened to you,” Cecilia said.
They wake Akeiko and prepare for breakfast.
“Come on, come on! I made sunny side-up eggs and fried rice!” Silica proudly said.
Teiko, Akeiko and Saki were shocked about what’s in front of them.
“W-what did you call these?” Teiko said worriedly.
“The sunny side-up eggs or the fried rice?” Silica asked.
“There’s not even a sun or even an egg on that thing,” Akeiko said.
“Don’t be too bad at Silica-nee’s cooking,” Saki said.
“Ahem! This is what I told you, Teiko. Silica and I are not an early bird so I usually cooked breakfast a really bit late. Silica took the initiative but as you can see, that didn’t pay off,” Cecilia said.
“Mom, it just looks inedible but if you taste it, it’s good. I think?” Silica said.
You think, huh? I can’t even distinguish the difference between the egg and the rice. Teiko thought.
Teiko sitted on one of the chairs attempting to eat one of them.
“Wait! I’ll taste one of it,” Silica said and quickly ate a spoonful of what she cooked.
Silica found the nearest trashcan and spit out the food that she ate.
“This tastes like charcoal with soil in it,” Silica exclaimed.
“Ahm, Silica-nee. That’s what you have cooked,” Saki said.
“Oh, no. I can’t let you guys eat something like this,” Silica said.
Silica immediately cleared the table.
“Auntie, I’ll cook for us. Can I use your kitchen?” Teiko said.
Teiko cooked for everyone. Silica and Cecilia were amazed at how good Teiko could cook.
“Anyway, I wanted to visit Mia in the laboratory so we could ask her to make spare potions for us. Would you like to come with us, Silica?” Teiko said.
“Ahm, I think I’ll pass. My mom needs my assistance on weaving your clothes so maybe next time,” Silica replied.
She’s doing her best. I just hope that she has the courage to ask us to let her join. Teiko thought.
