Teiko backs off at a far distance as he calculates where the fire of the wolf will end. After he knows that the fire wouldn’t hurt him anymore, he jumps at the side of the narrow path so he could hit the wolf on a higher height. With that method, he defeated three of the wolves.
“Okay, just three wolves and one alpha wolf,” Teiko said.
“Why did they not come after you? Even the alpha wolf stays where the leaf of yggdrasil is,” Saki said.
“The main reason is that they underestimated me. Well a part of the reason is for them to protect it and also for the alpha wolf to heal the wound that I did to him,” Teiko said.
“I see, but since you know that those wolves have magical power, you should take note that the alpha might have greater magic than the others,” Saki said.
“I know that, but since I understand how they fight and what skills they can do, I can challenge the three wolves,” Teiko said.
“Three? You’re the one underestimating them, and there’s no way that the alpha wouldn’t join your battle,” Saki said.
Teiko went where the leaf of yggdrasil is. The three wolves are on guard while the alpha wolf is just sitting near the plant.
“I thought the alpha wolf is the one that lead the pack, why is it not doing anything?” Saki asked.
“I thought you lived for a long long years already, you should know the answer to that!” Teiko replied.
“Hmp! I just want to know what you think and I’m not really that curious about other beings until this time,” Saki said.
“Fine. To answer that, I have some assumptions. First, it is still healing but I think it’s the least probable reason since the damage I dealt was not that great. Second, as the leader of the wolf pack, it might just be ordering the pack and not the one being in the front line. And finally, the most probable, is because of its pride,” Teiko said.
“Pride? Like your pride of being a swordsman?” Saki asked.
“Yup! Its pride doesn’t let it see me as a threat. And since it’s just calm right now, and not showing any care even if the other wolves are dead, it means that he’s just using the other as his pawn,” Teiko said.
“I see, so he might not join the fight even if you engage the other three head on,” Saki said.
“Yup!” Teiko agreed.
Teiko rushed towards the three with his 《Speed Thrust》, an engagement skill where a person charges forward with a sword or other weapon in front of him.
Teiko’s movement is faster than the three wolves’ perception. He was able to wound one of the wolves but couldn’t do a finishing move.
The nearest wolf jumps on Teiko.
Teiko fends off its fang with his sword. He immediately jumps on its back and raring to strike its neck. The wolf realized it and breathed fire so that the knockback would propel it upwards and hit Teiko with its body.
Teiko manages to strike the wolf but doesn't make a fatal wound. He was knocked over because of the wolf’s big body.
“That’s surprising, he’s too good,” Teiko said.
The other two immediately run toward Teiko after he falls on the ground. But with Teiko’s speed, they couldn’t catch up to them.
“If you can outfight them like that, you shouldn’t have done the dirty tactics you did before,” Saki said.
“I need some preparation, alright? I need to test their strength first or I might die due to carelessness,” Teiko replied.
The three wolves use their fire breath at Teiko. Teiko didn’t back off this time, instead he runs towards them.
“Teiko-nii! What are you doing?” Saki exclaimed.
“Don’t worry, I learned something as I fought with them earlier,” Teiko said.
“《Crescent Strike》” Teiko chanted.
The fire was suppressed by the shockwave. As the fire was put out, Teiko immediately struck the wolves’ fatal point one after another.
“Wow! Good job, Teiko-nii,” Saki said.
“An excellent work indeed. I remember experimenting on fire when I was a little kid, I discovered that it needed something from the air for it to continue to be lighted. By using the shockwave created by my skill, I pushed the fire back and put it away from its source. I didn’t know at first that it’s possible until earlier,” Teiko explained.
“I don’t need your useless explanation. Anyway, I think the alpha wolf is up,” Saki replied.
Teiko looks at the alpha wolf as it walks toward them.
Teiko took out a sword from his baggage.
“Feel threatened now. That’s a good thing, you’re still not forgetting you’re just a wild animal,” Teiko provoked the wolf.
“As if it can understand a thing you say,” Saki said.
The wolf runs towards Teiko.
“Look, it can understand the language of a human,” Teiko said.
“That’s amazing, maybe we can keep him as our pet,” Saki said.
“Are you an i***t? As if it will happen,” Teiko replied.
“Anyway, that sword is different than the one you use before. It’s my first time seeing you using it,” Saki said.
“Yup, since it’s the alpha wolf we’re taking, I might need a more sturdy and more powerful sword. This sword is from my father, I think it's time that I should use this,” Teiko said.
“I see, he’s right here already!” Saki exclaimed.
“No need to say, I can see that on my own. This is where the true battle begins,” Teiko said.
