“The process is simple but it’s hard to master this by just trying and trying, you guys need to experience the feeling of falling down from a high area. Usually, learning this involves jumping from high cliffs with safety cushions or water below, although magic on creating safety measures for that is rare,” Saki said.
“And you happen to have some, right?” Teiko asked.
“Nope!” Saki replied.
“Then how will we do that safely? We’ll find cliffs near a body of water?” Teiko asked.
“That’s one way, but we’ll just improvise from all of our skills, I’m thinking of letting you jump off from Saryx back and then you just have to make a cloth that would let you fall down slowly,” Saki said.
“So we’ll have to let Silica make something that could do what you think?” Teiko asked.
“I have an idea in my mind, I think it would work since we got very sturdy skins from wild beasts,” Silica replied.
“Okay, then we got another goal in this journey on going to the Mountain of Giervogel, learning how to fly using our mana,” Teiko said.
Everyone cheered.
After days of testing the prototype that Silica made, they we’re ready to start their flight magic training.
“Wow, Silica. You really did something crazy like this, if we are equipped with this I think we can survive whatever height we fall from,” Teiko said.
“Thank you so much for praising me, Teiko. I thought about this since I always watch how leaves fall from the tree. I just imagine a huge leaf could carry people if I made a design that would not let the people separate from it and can withstand the weight and the pressure that the wind will make,” Silica explained.
“Thank you, Silica. Saki could still save us if anything happened but I don’t think that your invention will fail,” Akeiko said.
“That’s the power of imagination and creation. Even if there is no magic involved, that thing works magically,” Saki said.
“Then, Saryx! Fly us to the highest height you could do,” Teiko said.
As they attain the highest height possible, they form Saryx back, one by one.
This height is really high. I should focus and let my magic flow through me. I want to close my eyes but I need to activate the equipment that Silica made to a certain height above the ground. Teiko thought.
The three fall down almost at the same speed.
As they fall, they try to think of flying using their mana but after several hours, they gave up on learning it and decided to continue to some other day.
“It was really fun jumping high above the sky but Saryx would be exhausted if we keep doing that,” Silica said.
“Right, it’s okay since learning this usually takes a month of practice but since we need to let Saryx rest for some day, it’ll be normally longer than a month. However, since it’s you guys, I think you can learn it in just one month and that’s enough time before we could reach the Great RIver of Mihiceo,” Saki said.
After several days, improvements could be seen from everyone. After the fourth week, they were able to master the flight magic. They don't need to jump from Saryx back and just fly from where they are standing.
“You guys really did it, just a day or two, we’ll be able to reach our destination,” Saki said.
“This very useful magic! It could save us from grave dangers, thank you for teaching us, Saki!” Akeiko said.
“No need for thanking me, you all did that on your own. All I have done is to watch you and to make sure you are safe while learning it,” Saki said.
“You deserve it, Saki. I’m sure we will not learn this not because of you,” Silica said.
“Just accept it, Saki. You’re the reason that we succeeded on our goal,” Teiko said.
“Well, if you say it that way! You’re welcome guys!” Saki said.
“So the way you fly is the same as what we are doing?” Teiko asked.
“Of course not! My wings are not just for design. The way I fly is the same as how Saryx fly, we use a part of our body called wings to help us stay in the air, although when I am exhausted, I use the same method as what you just have learnt,” Saki replied.
“It’s so convenient to have wings, huh? Teiko said.
“Of course, not only it is useful, it also adds to how beautiful a girl is,” Saki said.
“Well, you’re right about that. Wings do make it look prettier,” Teiko said.
“Hey, Saki! Is there any way to grow a pair of wings?!” Silica exclaimed.
“I don’t know if there is, are you not satisfied with learning flight magic?” Saki asked.
“Of course, I’m satisfied. But Teiko said it makes you look prettier so I want one of those!” Silica said.
“You’re really going crazy, Silica. Anyway, speaking about wings, Saki, do you know a way to make someone grow some wings?” Akeiko said.
“Enough of that. Teiko, can you stop them already? They might tear my wings apart when I’m asleep,” Saki said.
“Well, another way of making Teiko’s mind out of it is making him not see any wings. You gave me an idea, Saki,” Silica said.
“You psychopath! You’re really planning to tear my wings apart?” Saki cried out.
“Oh, then why not tear it yourself?” Akeiko said.
“Teiko-nii!” Saki cried out.
“Enough of that, it is really prettier but that doesn’t mean that having none would make you less pretty,” Teiko said.
“Yup, even her sister doesn't have wings,” Saki said.
“Okay, fine. But I, myself, find wings really pretty,” Akeiko said.
“Yup, but since we’re just normal humans, we don’t have a way to grow one, huh? Oh, maybe I should just create that using the Clothing Alchemy?” Silica said.
“Hey, that’s absurd, not only it will not function as real wings but it would also be a hindrance during battle. You would also have to clean it from time to time since it would catch a lot of dust from the air,” Teiko said.
“Fine, I’ll just do things normally and let you fall in love with me,” Silica said.
“Just don’t do something dangerous, okay? And sorry for not being able to return those feelings that the two of you have, I just want to focus on my goal,” Teiko said.
“It’s okay, Teiko. No need to be serious about this, we’re just a simple human loving somebody that we think we should devote our life to,” Akeiko said.
