I Have To Go back

2. I have to go back A woman walked briskly into a café. Her fists clenched as she approached a man who looked completely relaxed, enjoying his time with his friends. Diana walked straight toward Dion, prompting one of his friends nearby to nudge him, signaling Diana’s arrival. “Dion, I need to talk to you.” Dion smiled, clearly pleased, and opened his arms as if to welcome her. “Okay,” he said. Diana immediately walked out of the café after seeing Dion follow her outside. “What’s wrong, babe?” Dion asked. Diana instantly hit him multiple times with the bag she was carrying, forcing Dion to shield his face with both hands. “What the hell?” he muttered. “You bastard! What happened to your promise, you jerk?!” Diana shouted in his face while Dion chuckled, reaching for her waist. “You look sexy when you’re angry!” Dion smirked. “Asshole! Don’t touch me!” Diana shoved him hard to push him away. Dion raised his hands in surrender. “Alright, alright, what is it? Why are you so mad at me?” Diana flicked her hair in frustration. “Where’s Evan’s address? You promised to tell me, but you lied. You tricked me!” Dion smirked, stepping closer. “Honestly, I don’t know. You’re the one who believed me.” Diana hit his face with her bag again. “You jerk!” Dion caught her hand as she pointed angrily at his face. He pulled her closer until her body pressed against his. “Forget Evan. Be with me instead!” he whispered. “I don’t want to! Let go!” Diana struggled in his grasp, but Dion refused to let go. “What do you expect from a drug addict like him? I have a better future than Evan. Besides, I already know how good you feel.” SLAP! “Don’t you dare say something that disgusting!” Diana snapped. Dion grinned wickedly, rubbing his cheek. “Disgusting? You enjoyed it too, Diana. Come on.” Diana took a sharp breath, glaring at him. “Tell me where Evan is—right now!” Dion chuckled while staring at the furious beauty in front of him. “I don’t know. If you want, just ask my mom. She knows where he is.” Diana hit him again, this time crying. “You bastard! You lied to me!” Dion looked at her and smiled. “I never meant to lie to you, babe. I love you. I want you. Whether you think it’s a lie or not, I’m just happy to be with you.” Diana glared at him, clearly disgusted by how casual and cheerful he was. She wiped her tears away and stormed off, crying, walking quickly toward her car. Dion shook his head with a smug smile, rubbing his chin as he watched her leave. He was sure Diana would come back to him. If he had to, he’d make her his—he’d even get her pregnant to make her his wife. Diana came from a powerful family. There was no way he’d let her marry Evan. No way. Only he deserved to be her prince—not Evan. *** Ganda entered Evan’s bedroom that morning with a tray of food and medicine. Evan was sitting on the sofa, watching as Ganda walked toward him. The room’s curtains were still closed, so Ganda opened them after placing the tray on the table. Evan clicked his tongue in irritation as sunlight poured into the room. Ganda sat beside him. “Please eat and take your medicine, Sir.” Evan remained still, leaning back against the sofa. “Where is that woman?” He grabbed the glass of water and downed it in one go. “She’s not here,” Ganda replied. “Where’d she go? Is she that weak? So scared she didn’t come back?” Ganda sighed deeply at Evan’s words. “She’s still under medical care. She probably won’t return to work, Sir.” Evan laughed bitterly, looking seriously at Ganda, and then stopped laughing. “So that crazy woman’s little servant is really that fragile, huh?” Ganda rubbed his forehead in frustration. “Sir, she’s not working for Madam Sarah. She genuinely wanted to work here.” Evan stood up and threw the glass in his hand. Ganda stayed quiet, simply watching his outburst. “Don’t try to cover it up, Ganda. I know the truth. Bring her back once she’s recovered.” Ganda took a deep breath and closed his eyes, unsure of what to say. “Sir... you already hurt her. Please don’t jump to conclusions or it’ll all be meaningless. She’s a good girl.” Evan looked annoyed. “Good? She’s a slut. She had the nerve to lie naked in front of me!” Ganda stood and stepped closer to Evan, who was clearly unsettled. “Sir, calm down. Don’t you remember even a little of what happened between you and that girl?” Evan fell silent, thinking. He vaguely remembered something—a dream, maybe. In it, Anna was crying and begging him not to hurt her. That was the only memory he had. He thought maybe she really had begged him. “That’s my business.” Ganda shook his head, staring at Evan, realizing talking to him was pointless. “Alright. I’ll call someone to clean up the glass. Don’t step on it. Stay where you are.” He left the room, calling for Rose or Intan to take care of the mess. *** Anna was starting to get bored after almost a week in the hospital. Her routine was just eating, sleeping, talking to doctors, walking around the garden, and watching TV. Over and over again. She sighed and turned toward the door when she heard someone enter. “Lisa!” she said excitedly, seeing her friend come to visit. “Hey, sorry I’m late.” Anna pouted, annoyed Lisa had only just arrived. “I’m dying of boredom here,” she whined. “Sorry, I needed time to dig up info about that medicine you gave me.” Anna nodded, remembering the pills she had handed to Lisa. “Oh right, I forgot. Did you get the one from Mr. Evan’s house?” Lisa nodded slowly, pulling out a sample and handing it to Anna. “You need to be careful, Anna. This stuff isn’t as harmless as you think.” Anna frowned and took the paper listing all the chemical compounds in the medication. “What’s this?” she asked, confused by all the scientific terms. “This lists everything in the medicine you gave me—this one’s from Mr. Evan’s house, and this one is yours,” Lisa said, pointing at the labels. “So, what does it mean?” Lisa stared at her seriously and sighed. “Listen, the one you gave Mr. Evan is a drug that causes hallucinations. It’s like an antidepressant, but if used long-term, it can make someone go insane.” Anna dropped the paper, staring in disbelief. “Are you serious? This is accurate?” “I promise. It took forever to track down my friend. He works in pharmaceuticals. But I did it for you!” Anna went quiet, haunted by the thought that she had been unknowingly feeding Evan that medicine three times a day. She felt like she was the one going crazy now. “What about the other one?” she asked, still in shock. “That one’s even weirder—it’s an abortion drug.” “What?!” Anna gasped. Lisa nodded slowly. “I think Mr. Evan’s stepmother doesn’t want him to have a child. That’s just my guess, but we don’t know for sure.” Anna rubbed her chin, thinking. Lisa’s theory made sense. “Maybe... maybe she gave it to me to weaken my womb—to get rid of any chance of me carrying his baby.” Lisa nodded quickly. “Exactly. I think that’s what’s going on. They’re cruel enough to drive Evan mad and make sure he never has a family.” Anna went quiet, thinking over Lisa’s words. Maybe this was what Sarah had planned all along. No wonder she was paid so much for such a simple job—just serving meals. Sarah even offered her more money if she proved trustworthy. “I think... I need to stay there.” Lisa stared at her in shock. “What?! Are you serious?” “I’ll keep working for Evan!” Lisa looked at Anna in shock. “An, are you crazy? That’s dangerous! It’s better if we just ask Dimas to find you another job!” Anna stayed silent, not answering. Her mind was filled with thoughts of Evan—why couldn’t she stop thinking about him? Even after what he did to her... he had assaulted her. Still, something in her, the human side of her, couldn’t just walk away. She felt like she needed to help him. But could she? Why should she feel sorry for Evan? Anna buried her face in her hands, confused and torn. Lisa stared at her, puzzled by how strangely Anna was acting in front of her.
