Chapter 14

The drive from the restaurant to Aurelius Telecommunications was quieter than the journey there. I sat beside Julian in the back of the executive car, my attention focused on the itinerary displayed on my executive pad. The afternoon schedule had already been prepared, but I found myself reviewing it again. It was becoming a habit. Maybe because this world was still unfamiliar. Maybe because everything around me had changed so quickly that I was afraid of missing something important. **2:00 p.m. — Aurelius Telecommunications Launch.** **9:00 p.m. — Telecommunications Launch Celebration at Aurelius Grand Hotel.** The evening celebration was already included in Julian's schedule. As his executive secretary, it was my responsibility to know every detail of his day before it happened. The guests. The locations. The timing. The arrangements. Everything had to be prepared. I glanced briefly at Julian. He was seated beside me, reviewing documents on his tablet with the same quiet concentration he brought to everything he did. Even after lunch. Even after meeting Ivanka. Even after the brief moment where he had seemed less like the intimidating CEO everyone knew and more like someone capable of laughing freely. He had returned to being Julian Grey. Controlled. Focused. Impossible to read. I looked away and returned my attention to my screen. The car continued through the city streets before slowing as we approached the Aurelius Telecommunications building. The sight immediately caught my attention. This was different from Aurelius Group Headquarters. The headquarters represented power and administration. This building represented innovation. Large digital displays covered the entrance, showing the company's latest telecommunications technology. Luxury vehicles lined the street, and security personnel stood near the entrance. But what caught my attention most were the people gathered outside. Reporters. Journalists. Camera crews. My fingers tightened slightly around my executive pad. I knew there would be media coverage. It was listed in the schedule. But seeing it in person was different. The chauffeur stopped at the entrance. Adrian stepped out first, opening the door for Julian. The moment Julian stepped outside, the atmosphere changed. Questions immediately came from the reporters. "Mr. Grey, how important is this launch for Aurelius Telecommunications?" "Is the company planning global expansion?" "How will this technology change the current market?" Camera flashes illuminated the entrance. Julian did not appear affected. He simply moved forward with the same calm confidence he carried everywhere. There was something remarkable about watching him in situations like this. In a meeting room, people listened because of his authority. Here, strangers listened because of the presence he carried. He did not need to demand attention. It naturally followed him. I stepped out after him and followed Adrian inside. The moment we entered the building, the scale of the event became even clearer. The main hall had been transformed into an elegant presentation space. Large screens displayed the Aurelius Telecommunications logo and information about the new technology. Executives, investors, business partners, and members of the media filled the room. Everyone had a role. Everyone had a reason for being there. And mine was clear. I checked the schedule. The opening presentation. The investor briefing. The media interviews. The executive discussions. I reviewed each detail carefully. This was not the branch office anymore. At Calden City, a mistake might delay a meeting or require a correction. Here, every detail represented Julian Grey and Aurelius Group. I could not afford to be careless. "Miss Vale." I looked up. Julian was standing near the entrance to the executive preparation area. "Yes, Mr. Grey?" "The media briefing documents." I immediately handed him the folder. "The updated versions are inside. I also confirmed the final interview schedule and guest arrangements." He opened the folder briefly, checking the contents. "Good." He closed it and continued toward the preparation room. He moved on immediately, already focused on the next responsibility. But I noticed something. I no longer felt like I was waiting for someone to discover I did not belong here. The doubt was still there. The uncertainty. The feeling that I had stepped into a world much larger than the one I knew. But I was beginning to understand that I had been chosen for a reason. Not because of luck. Because I was capable. The launch began shortly afterward. From my position near the executive area, I watched Julian address the audience. The entire room became silent. He spoke about innovation, future expansion, and the company's vision for telecommunications. His voice was calm, but every word carried certainty. He did not need dramatic speeches. He did not need to prove his intelligence. People trusted him because he knew exactly where he was leading them. The applause that followed his presentation filled the hall. The official launch continued afterward with interviews, discussions, and networking sessions. I remained busy throughout the afternoon. Schedules changed. Guests arrived. Requests came in. Documents needed updating. The hours passed faster than I expected. By the time I checked the time again, it was almost five o'clock. The launch had ended successfully. The reporters slowly began leaving. Executives exchanged final handshakes. Employees began clearing the presentation area. I looked down at my executive pad. The first major public event I had attended as Julian Grey's secretary was complete. And somehow... I had managed. --- "Miss Vale." I turned and saw Adrian approaching. "Yes?" "The launch is officially complete. Mr. Grey has a few final matters to handle before we leave." I nodded. "I understand." Adrian glanced at the time. "You are free to return home and rest before this evening's celebration." I looked at him. "Rest?" A small smile appeared on his face. "Yes. You have had a long day." I looked down at my executive pad. The evening schedule was still displayed. **9:00 p.m. — Telecommunications Launch Celebration. Aurelius Grand Hotel.** "I have the details already." "Of course." Adrian nodded. "Your formal attire for tonight has already been delivered to your apartment." I looked at him. "My formal attire?" "The company arranged it as part of the executive event expenses." I immediately felt the urge to protest. "Adrian, that really wasn't necessary." "It is standard for events of this level." I sighed quietly. That was something I was still learning about Aurelius Group. Things that seemed extraordinary to me were treated as normal here. "The chauffeur will pick you up at 8:00 p.m." I nodded. "And then?" "We will collect Mr. Grey from his residence before proceeding to Aurelius Grand Hotel." I checked the schedule once more. Everything had already been arranged. Of course it had. That seemed to be the way everything worked in Julian Grey's world. "Thank you, Adrian." "You're welcome, Miss Vale." I walked toward the entrance. Outside, the chauffeur was already waiting. As I entered the car, I looked back at Aurelius Telecommunications. This morning, my biggest concern had been preparing for my first major meeting. Now I had attended a launch covered by reporters and journalists, and tonight I would be attending a celebration among some of the most influential people in the city. My life had changed faster than I could understand. And somehow, I had a feeling that the evening at Aurelius Grand Hotel would bring even more surprises.
