Dante stood with his blade lowered, chest heaving. The red shard of the Crimson Switch was gone, its glow scattered into fragments. For the first time in years, Kael’s voice was silent.
No whispers. No pull. Nothing.
He should have felt relief. Victory. The closure he’d bled for.
Instead, he felt a hollow pit open in his chest, darker than the Tower’s shadow.
