“You don't need to pay me to accompany you….You have a lovely family. I'd have gone without hesitation,” I uttered softly and he nodded in agreement.
“Nadine, thank you for playing along,” he replied with a soft smile.
“I knew I could count on you for this,” he added and my heart skipped a beat as an unspoken intensity passed through us.
The memory of us almost kissing flashed through my mind. How Hendrix had dipped his head slowly to capture mine. If his mother had not walked in the time she did, I blushed at what could have happened between us.
