When we got to the tree, we heard Are’s speak but could not see him, “You were late now you must pay for that but before we begin, I want you to understand that we will not only be training your wolf form but your human form too instead, we will work for you two to share the energy between you to help safe all.”
Turning towards Zeus, “What does that mean?”
Zeus responded with a nonchalant shrug just as Ares materialized, his eyes ablaze with an intense cerulean light, reminiscent of a brilliant bulb. “Artemis, Zeus, you must master this and Hera’s training to avert the dire prophecy and preserve the supernatural realm. Remember your essence,” he implored.
I glanced at Zeus, seeking his gaze, but he seemed oblivious to my presence. “Violet, can you hear me?” I probed.
After a brief silence, Violet’s voice pierced the stillness. “Artemis, your obliviousness astounds me. I’ve been silent during your literary escapades; our connection is severed in those moments.”
Her revelation stunned me. “But aren’t we united?” I questioned.
Violet’s exasperation was almost audible. “Indeed, we are one, yet my voice reaches not your ears in that realm. Heed Ares’ words; our strength will shield our kin.”
Zeus and Ares exchanged a knowing look as I approached, my conversation with Violet having diverted my attention. “Shall we begin training in our human or wolf forms?” I inquired.
Ares sighed, his disappointment evident. “Athena’s daughter indeed, your focus is fleeting,” he remarked. I was taken aback, and Zeus’s laughter only added to my embarrassment. I retaliated with a playful punch. “That’s not fair,” I protested.
Zeus tried to compose himself. “It’s true, you’re only focused when angered,” he admitted. I was about to respond when Ares interjected with a stern command for concentration. We exchanged glances, subdued, and followed him into the forest, ready to commence our training.
With a mutual glance, we lowered our heads in resignation and trailed Ares into the forest. The silence was palpable as we walked until Ares paused and faced us. “Artemis, the gravity of what lies ahead demands your focus. Zeus, your jests must cease; the prophecy’s implications are grave.”
Zeus’s demeanor sobered, the prophecy’s ominous prediction casting a shadow over us. “Close your eyes,”
Ares continued, “and seek communion with your wolves. Artemis, recall Ama’s visage from your visions.”
Starting to search for the power that he was speaking about, and I felt that urge, the urge to kill, I opened my eyes and looked straight at Are’s, and this (the) man smiled at me, “You feel that urge, that urge to kill me Artemis hang onto it because you are going to need it.”
I don’t like this feeling I hate feeling like I want to kill someone. “You may not like it, Artemis, but you need to understand that you may have to kill along the way to protect our pack and us.”
I know that Violet was right, but this isn’t who we are, I know that, but it must be part of the training. Once Zeus was looking at Are’s like he was an enemy or some sort of prey, Are’s expression changed, "Now both of you come at me with everything you can."
My brother and I looked at each other and smiled. We charged at him. I went high, and Zeus went low, I went to kick him in his head, and Zeus tried to sweep his legs, but he grabbed my leg with his hand and pinned Zeus’s leg under his foot before flipping us back on our asses. “Is that really all you can do, if so, your pack truly is doomed.”
That made Violet angry like extremely angry. Violet pushed me back into my mind and came forward, and when she did, I felt this power, but it wasn’t my normal power; it was something dark and angry. I tried to fight for control of my body back, but Violet was two (too) f*****g angry for me to convince her. When Are’s seen my eyes, he looked at Zeus, “You go sit over there, it seems the pup needs to learn her place.”
That was all it took to send Violet over the deep end, she charged at Ares jumping behind him before turning around and jumping in the air like she was wanting to do a back flip but instead of flipping all the way over she grabbed Are’s head while doing a hand stand on top of him and went to twist his head but when she realized she couldn’t do that she let her body swing down and pushed her feet straight into his chest causing Are’s to fly backwards into a tree.
But that didn’t stop Are’s he just stood up and dusted himself off, “Is that all you got, pup?”
I didn’t know that Violet could get any angrier than what she already was, but I was sadly mistaken. It was like she locked me in our minds, and I couldn’t come forward. I could see this black aura surrounding our bodies. Violet didn’t move but sent this black tentacle thing towards Are’s. It caused him to leap back, but when he did, he sent this powerful, bright light barreling towards me, and that was the last thing I saw because after that, I was being shaken awake by Zeus, “Squirt, are you ok?”
I slowly sat up, rubbing my head, “What happened?”
Are’s was just standing there with his arms crossed, “Your training is over for today, go inside, I must talk to Hera.”
Then he disappeared into thin air. I looked at Zeus, “What the hell happened I don’t remember anything after the bright light.”
He helped me to my feet, “Violet took over, and there was this black aura surrounding you, and you launched a black tentacle thing at him. What the hell was that?”
Shaking my head, “I don’t know, Zeus, it was like I was trapped and couldn’t get out.”
We started walking towards the house. “Well, ask Violet, maybe she knows.”
We kept walking forward, “Violet, are you there?” I waited and waited, but Violet never responded, which was weird because she always answered back, “Zeus, she is not answering me?”
The look on Zeus’s face showed that he was concerned, but he didn’t say anything. We walked in silence all the way to grandmother’s hut. When we reached the outside part of it, we saw Alcide and Genius outside looking around. When Genius saw me, he ran straight towards me, lifting me into a hug. “Princess, what happened? I thought I lost you, I couldn’t feel you anymore?”
I looked at Zeus, and he walked over to my uncle and was talking to him. My uncle turned towards me with wide eyes. I hung my head and walked past everyone and into my grandmother’s home. Genius was right on my heels, following me into the bedroom. “Princess, talk to me, please. What happened?”
Walking over to the bed, I sit down. I placed my head into my hands that were on my lap; Genius kneeled gently, grabbing my head and lifting it, and making me look at him, “Princess, what happened? You can tell me I love you.”
Tears started falling from my eyes, “I don’t know what happened, Genius. Violet locked me into our head, and this black aura s**t appeared, and a tentacle thingy then Are’s blinded me with a bright light, and when I woke up, he said training was over. Zeus won’t look at me, and Alcide seemed to be scared of me. What if something is wrong with me?”
He rubbed his hand against my face, “Princess, nobody is scared of you, just none of us know what’s going on, we all knew you were powerful, but something about this all seems wrong, I don’t know what it i,s but there is nothing wrong with you, and we love you.”
Scooting back on the bed, bringing my knees to my chest, Genius didn’t say anything else. He just crawled onto the bed behind me, grabbing me and pulling me into his chest. Once my head hit his chest, I just started crying. What is wrong with me? Will I ever be able to just go back to normal and live my life? Why do I have to fix everything?
