The next morning, Gloria woke up early. No one else was awake. She grabbed a banana on her way out the door and slipped out quietly, making sure not to wake anyone. She eased into her car and closed the door without slamming it. She started the car and was on her way to Sharpville.
Gloria had told Dr. Dallas she would help out at the veterinary clinic today. She had to text Babs and let her know she couldn’t go shopping. She had forgotten about the clinic when she made arrangements to go shopping. Gloria was going to go by and see if Barton wanted to go with her to the clinic. She hoped he was awake.
When Gloria stopped in front of Fitness Central, it did not look as if it was open. Gloria leaned her head back and closed her eyes.
“Wake up, Barton,” she thought.
Barton opened his eyes.
