“Is he asleep yet?” Sam asked. I shook my head. I hoped the unease I was feeling wasn’t as evident as the yearning I saw in Sam’s eyes. “Not yet. It’s barely been a week since we’ve been back here, you know.” “I know. He’s actually adjusted quite well so far. Sleeping on his own is a big step, but you said he did it once on the boat, right?” “Yeah, but our berths were close by. He keeps repeating how his room is bigger than our entire shelter was. I think that’s because it scares him as much as it excites him. It probably feels like he’s separated from us in his own individual shelter.” Sam nodded and pulled me in for a hug. “Good point.
