Melody He wanted to marry her. She turned back to stare at him. He didn’t seem fazed by her look. “I was going to ask you properly, tonight, after I have the Lord’s blessing.” He took out a small ring box and opened it, offering her the ring inside. It was a beautiful ring, small and understated. The band was white gold and instead of a diamond he had chosen an aquamarine with tiny swirls of diamonds on the band. Melody reached out and touched the ring. She loved Denys so much, but marrying him? “Of course,” Denys said. He took her hand again. “If I am refused the blessing, I will leave the pack myself and if you will still have me…?” Melody looked back up at him in shock. He would leave his home. For her. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. Denys chuckled and pulled away, sliding the ring on her finger gently before he kissed her back. “I am sure that Saera will help you prepare for it, when you are ready to take that step.” He said. He looked happier then she had ever seen him before.   Denys He didn’t stop holding her hand as they entered the hall hired out to the seven packs. Everyone turned to look at them as they entered and almost instantly the whispers started. Denys allowed himself a small smile as he overhead one of the women whisper to another their jealousy at Melody’s natural beauty. The beauty that she didn’t even realise she had. She looked almost regal that night, like the princess that she had been born as. She was nervous though and didn’t leave his side. A few of the other Alpha’s looked over, clearly liking what they saw within her. Denys enjoyed their jealousy. They had lorded it over him often enough. They reached the Lord and Denys bowed before him. Melody took his cue and curtsied. “So this is the cat that turned out great Alpha Denys Ellisan’s eye.” The Lord said, stepping forward to Melody. She kept her eyes down. The Lord reached out and touched her beneath her chin, making her look up at him. Melody met his eyes and Denys could hear the Lord’s intake of breath. “Now, she is an exquisite piece, isn’t she.” Denys offered Melody a tiny smile. She was unmoving but he could see her nervous swallow. “I have heard a rumour, girl, that you do not utter a word, is that true?” Melody nodded slowly. “And you want what, Alpha Denys?” “Your blessing, Lord.” He replied. “I intend to marry Melody. I believe that she is my mate, I wish to marry her, take her into my pack and start the bond for eternity.” The Lord looked away from Melody sharply. “She is a cat. No more then a plaything.” He said. “Be satisfied with that.” Melody nervously twisted the ring on her finger. Denys put a hand on her arm. “Melody is no plaything, Lord. She is my mate. I am asking your permission to mark her as such and accept her into my pack.” The Lord stared at Denys for a long time, thinking. “You would burn all your links to our world for this Cat?” “Without hesitation.” Denys answered. He glanced at Melody, who was studying the floor again. “I would give everything to her. And, her name is Melody. Not the Cat.” Melody glanced over to him, she bit her bottom lip and Denys fought the urge to kiss her. “Then I give you my permission. You may take her as yours. I have no wish to lose my strongest pack.”   Melody Denys introduced her to so many people that evening. Though later they got a moment to dance, just them. Denys was a good dancer. He held her close and smiled. “So, Melody. You are officially mine in the eyes of the packs.” He said. “Or will be, if you allow me to mark you.” She must have looked curious because he sighed, and spun her around. Her dress flared. He pulled her close again and kissed her neck on the right side. “I have to bite you, my love. Just there. It is a ritual in my society. It means that we have bonded for the rest of time. Wolf women do the same to their men, and you will too. But, I have to be changed when I do it, and you the same. Ive been told that it hurts for a moment, but just for a moment, we both have to just have one taste of each others blood.” Melody looked unsure. It wasn’t something that she wasn’t used to. It almost scared her. He had nipped her many times when they were enjoying each other. “Mel, you are my mate, without you near me I feel…” He stopped but she knew exactly what he meant. She felt it too. That deep yearning for him to be close. That panic she felt when they were apart. She pressed a kiss on him. Telling him that she understood. He smiled. “So. What do you think of my Grandfather?”
